Pooing under my daughters bed, the cat likes to sleep on DD's bed during the day and as the door doesn't catch properly she can push it open (the cat not DD).
Anyway last night we discovered she'd shat under the bed on the carpet. There was an undiscovered turd too :(
Has anyone else had a litter trained cat with access to outdoors suddenly start doing this ?
To say I'm not happy is understatement of the day.

Yes I think I will get her checked out she's due a vaccination anyway.
Is that a sign ? There was nothing stopping her getting to the litter tray, we have a bungalow so it's a very short distance and she purposely went under the bed rather than being caught short.

Cats are funny creatures sometimes and will pick a place to go and stick to it and training them out of it is hard. My cat decided that she was going to use behind my dining room TV as her new toilet. The only thing I could do to stop her and discourage it was to clean the area completely with a lemon based cleaner (I'm told cats dislike lemon) and try to prevent access to the area for a while to re-establish a normal routine. I then changed to changing and totally cleaning my cats litter tray daily (switched to a cheaper litter and line tray with newspaper for quick clean) rather than a daily scoop and a weekly clean. She then stopped going behind the TV and will now only do it if her tray has missed a clean or two.

Ofc like others have said it could be medical too so check with your vet. I asked mine when my cat started going it and this was the first thing he advised. Although my cat is frequently checked by the vet so he knows her well.
