Boris needs a home

Boris's plight is here, in MN Pets

And a photo of Boris is here

As long as the OP has no objections I will happily find her an experienced rescue worker/volunteer who will homecheck anyone who can offer to adopt Boris. I'm sure that you'll all appreciate the necessity to ensure that any animal and new owner will be compatible and that the animal is in safe hands. Given that I have rescue contacts across the UK it should be possible for Boris to be rehomed anywhere in England or possibly beyond. Transport MIGHT be able to be arranged for part of such a journey, with the help of Boris' current owner and my rescue contacts.

So, if you can offer a home to this handsome boy please give either Boris's owner, Lula, or I a shout.

Just to add that Boris's owner is willing to provide veterinary insurance for him too.

oh he's lovely, I have a 9 month old kitten though and I suspect Boris wouldn't enjoy that Sad

Hmmm... not sure, pink, and TBH I don't think Boris' current owner would swear that he wouldn't get on with other cats either - have a look at the last couple of posts they make on the MN Pets thread, above, to see what I mean.

I have cats myself and IME, both present, with an allegedly other-cat-and-dog-hating cat who I took in recently and who has settled in brilliantly, and past experience tells me that cats normally settle down surprising well with other cats after a short period of time. Give it a couple of weeks and the chances are he would be fine, like most other cats, IMHO.

There is always the safety net too of knowing that if it didn't work out there is rescue back-up available for Boris and you would have somewhere for him to go should you really feel he's not suited to your home. This is NOT the same as a rescue offer, it is merely a guarantee of care in a no-kill environment should the person who adopts Boris ever be unable to keep him for whatever reason. This rescue back up is an extra assurance for a prospective adopter. Boris DOESN'T have a rescue place owing both to his owner's desire not to seek one AND the difficulty in finding a rescue who will take on an older cat. Boris is still with his owner until his owner emigrates to Oz - if they can't find Boris a home he is in serious trouble.

I suspsect that Boris would be ok with a young cat, it was with my mums older cat that he had a dislike and that was about 10 yrs ago. As long as he gets his food and a place on the end of the sofa, and not to mention the odd salt and vinegar crisp he would be happy Smile

Shameless bump for a healthy older boy who CAN live with other cats. :)

dh has said no Sad I'm not sure how we'd get it to Brighton anyhow.

Fingers crossed he finds a new home

Vallhala · 12/01/2011 21:35

Your DH is a lucky man, pink. I wouldn't have asked his opinion! :o

May I just point out that Boris is in Leeds, not Brighton, and that transport can probably be arranged if necessary.

a bump in case there are some other cat lovers out there

GRW · 14/01/2011 23:12

Did he get rehomed yet? Some friends of mine recently adopted a 13 year old cat from a rescue centre. He is lovely and good with children, but had waited for over six months in a rescue centre for a home. They may be moving back to New Zealand in 5 years, and so didn't want to get a young cat.

lulalullabye · 15/01/2011 13:57

No Sad

NessaRose · 18/01/2011 13:00

lulalullabye,

I have spoken to DH and we would love to offer a home to Boris.

We have 3 dcs, and a tom cat who is 1.
