Christmas trees and kittens

Can anyone give me any tips on how to keep our 3 month old kitten out of the Christmas tree?
I have tried tin foil around it, she liked it and started to eat it!
I have also read about using a water squirty bottle, but I want to keep her out of the tree, not electrocute her.

Any ideas? TIA

Don't be so mean, Christmas trees are made for little kitties to climb up and destroy!

Ahhh, I see. This is our first cat.

She is making a very good job of it then. :o

Could you distract her with a ball to chase or a fishing rod style toy? Might tempt her down even if she has climbed up already.

Do remember not to leave the tree lights on, or even plugged in, when you are not at home or asleep.

Ours was 8mths at her first Christmas, she loved climbing our artificial tree, there's nothing like two big green eyes looking out at you!

when our old cat was a kitten, she used to chew on the lights. she was white and it made her whole head glow. in the end, for her own safety we ended up removing the lights.

Our old cat used to love eating the lametta from the christmas tree.
we once saw it hanging out of his bottom.
Gross!

Water bottle is the only way we found that worked, after the first 100 or so squirts the threat of the water bottle is enough!

Saying that the last time we had a kitten was 7 years ago but have a 6 month old kitten now and im too scared to put the tree up as shes not scared of water!!!

Can you put the tree up on a coffee table or something so it is a bit more out of reach?

We haven't put ours up yet, but it will be our cat's first christmas with us (we rescued him) and he is only around 2 years old, so will be referring to this page later!

Bearcat that is so so so gross!

We have 2 6 month old kittens and put our tree up yesterday and they haven't taken much notice of it yet. They were very excited playing with the boxes and tinsel but so far have left the tree alone. I was dreading it but it all seems quiet so far. Our tree is on a coffee table and they've walked round the bottom of it but not shown any interest in knocking anything off or climbing up it, (yet).
