Harry Potter suddenly needs litter training

Dear all,

Thank you for the excellent advice on my last thread about not giving Harry Potter cow's milk. However, she seems to have decided to go on some kind of anarchist protest about 'only' getting cat milk by weeing everywhere (and pooing on my spare room floor, literally 'the cat shat on the mat') - I wonder why?!

I'm sure unrelated to the milk change, today of course was first day back at school since she arrived but the wee protest seems to have started yesterday evening.

Dh suspects a combination of her feeling more secure here now, so less inclined to want her litter tray inside (IYSWIM) - she definitely wants to go outside to do her business, which would be good except she's not allowed out til her innoculations are done at least - and also the pheromone we sprayed has probably worn off.

Was totally not expecting this, after having been so perfectly litter behaved for a week! Dh has had words with her, man-to-she-cat-with-man's-name, I think we're okay again but I wonder what could have triggered it off?

What's the poo like? My cat ahs ibs and when he needs to go he needs to go NOW iyswim? But his poos are very liquidy.

The poos have blessedly returned to normal since the cow's milk has been taken out. But dh did notice that Harry Potter had a hell of a lot to drink this avo before apparently going off to find somewhere to wee that wasn't the litter tray - I wonder if she doesn't like to do a big ole wee in the tray she has to stand in, if you see what I mean? None of us would like to pee in a giant sand pit we were standing in at the same time. (I assume)

So I do think urgency was a factor, dh has moved her litter tray to be in line of sight of her food/drink trays (leaving me having to hop over it at present to go the human loo!).

It's not too close, is it? Cats don't like to poo/wee too close to their food bowls.

I'd keep an eye on her - cats can be prone to cystitis or other urinary issues, and in mine it has tended to make them wee outside their trays. Make sure she isn't showing any signs of discomfort.

Oh, and when mine aren't feeling inclined towards the litter tray their first choice tends to be the bath! It's not great but it's a damn site better than the carpets so if she definitely isn't using her tray I'd maybe leave the bathroom door open if it wouldn'r grose you out.
