The litter tray

My cat is going bald.

One of the girls has started getting bald patches around her rear half, along her back, the base of her tail and her back legs. Her sister seems fine. A friend suggested it might be ringworm, but in that case wouldn't they both have it? Also they've both been dewormed and deflead recently.

If it gets any worse I'll take her to the vets, but I'm hesitant to stress her out if it's something that can be cleared up with time or some simple method.

Any ideas or experiences?

Could it be mange? I'd take her to the vet.

I hope not. Poor baby. :(

She's violently anti-vet so am hoping to avoid it, will take her in if it gets any worse or doesn't clear up very soon though.

Is she a 'stressy' sort of cat? Some cats over-groom when they are stressed out and can pull hair out as a result. Has there been any change recently that might be stressing her out or any new cats in the neighbourhood that might be bullying her?

She is rather more highly strung than her sister (who is completley dopey), so stress/hormones could be it. She's also been quite clingy the last few days. I've not seen any new cats but she's been in what looked like territorial fights before, so if there is one that could also be an issue.

Could you email a photo to the vet - see what she thinks?

I came on to ask a similar thing.

My boy has been back and forth to the vets getting injections for the last couple of years.
After the 4/5th time the vet said if he seemed happy and we made sure we kept the Frontline up there was not much more he could do.
I think the injections were some sort of steriods which they were reluctant to keep giving him.

He goes through phases, he gets really worked up sometimes, growling and then biting a chunk of fur out if himself Sad
He's got scabby lumps all over him.

He doesn't have any creepy crawlies, allergies and he is possibly the most laid back cat, ever!
He's an embarrassment to the feline species, Grinsoft as hell, so loveable and cuddly, healthy diet, eats like a horse, everything else normal.

What tablets did yours have Eccentrica?
I give him cat vitamins already.

My cat Mia gets this loads, last time it was because the baby was teething, she also is allergic to fleas. Lovely beautifully natured cat but slightly expensive, steoroids is the only way forward I'm afraid..

Our cats got bald back legs from over grooming. Vet said she was nervous and gave her felaway. Cat rescue place said whatever you do don't get another cat. Got a little kitten. Big cat immediately stopped the over grooming and settled down. Was lonely I think.
