Raw food diet for cats?

Does anyone feed their cat a raw food diet or use any of the natural cat foods out there? If so what do you buy and do you find it expensive? It makes sense to me that this would be a better diet for a cat than the horrible smelly sloppy processed stuff, but the packet stuff is convenient and cheap (we are on a tight budget). Thanks!

I use a wet/pouch food called Purely from Pets at Home. It has a much higher meat content than regular foods, no sugar and it looks like something you can recognise as chicken or fish. Another advantage is that it doesn't smell disgusting. It costs just under five pounds for a box of 12 and I use 2 pouches a day + some of the purely dry food for a snack which is 70% chicken and only available instore. There are a few good brands of food that you can only get online (from Zooplus I think) - Bozita is one I would recommend. Make sure the food you feed is 'complete' rather than 'complimentary' as the complete foods have extra nutrients in them.

I do feed a bit of raw food as a treat as it is good for teeth and nice to see the cat eating properly - i.e. chewing meat off bones rather than gobbling meat or hoovering biscuits. Chicken necks are good if you can get them, also chicken wings or thighs. You might have to butcher them into smaller pieces for the cat to manage. If you wanted to do a raw food only diet there is some stuff to learn about the correct proportions of different meats and you also have to give some supplements I believe. There is some great info. on here about cat health and feeding. HTH

I use a natural cat food..It's called mice...only they do tend to leave the gall bladder...maybe I should sell 'de-gall bladdered mice for cats" mmmm....I may take that idea to Dragon's Den Grin

Bozita that HonestyBox recommended is fantastic. 97% meat so very healthy - a lot of cheaper cat foods are mainly fillers, grain etc. which cats are not designed to eat so can cause health problems in the long run.
