Hi thanks for reading!

We are thinking about getting a kitten from a friend and there are two left and we have two dds and we have started thinking perhaps we could have two! Except we already have a dog who is good with cats but who is going to get a bit of a shock so is it nicer for the cats to be a pair or is that more than double the trouble for the dog? Any thoughts?!

Also do you have to leave cat food out for them if they don't eat it all at once? Just wondered as dog will just eat anything that they don't.

2 cats is better than one. My cat was unhappy when we introduced the second into the family but now she wouldn't be without her. Both my lovely girls play together and my older one who is 9 now shows off her kitten side when playing with the younger 2 year old.

Cats rarely over-eat. That said my older girl does. Although the steroids she's on makes her put weight on faster so she is quite big due to that. What works for me is putting out wet food as meals like you would with a dog but leaving down dry food for the girls to nibble at when they need to. This ensures that if I'm out late they don't go hungry.

Two kittens are loads of fun! I would suspect they may be less trouble for the dog in fact, as they may play with each other rather than a single kitty bothering the dog.

Mine definitely graze - they have dry food an it's out all the time. No dog to compete with though. If you found the cat food wasn't being eaten quickly enough you could find somewhere that they cats could get at it that the dog couldn't - in a small gap perhaps, or up high?

I have got two 16wk old kitties.

We got one (they are sisters) a couple of days before the other as one of them was not eating very well.

So basically we had one kitty by herself and it was hard work, like having a baby lol.

Once the other kitty arrived it was soooo much easier as they play with each other and entertain each other iyswim.

Also its much easier when you go out for the day, you don't have to worry about leaving them iyswim.

Foodwise my kitties don't like dried food and just guzzle food when its put down, but as its been said before I don't think they over eat (my 2 are rake thin Hmm)despite being fed all the time Grin

Two definitely. I got two and wouldn't have it any other way now. The girlie has just had 4 kittens and my dsis is having two and I'm trying to find another taker for two.Smile

Mumo - Sadly not, we're in London. So any Londoners, two lovely black and white kittens for free. :)

Two! We've just got another kitten to be friends with our year old cat and they are wonderful together Smile

Of course the vet side of things all adds up with two and goodness knows how much the cattery will be next summer when we go away; but they are worth it - def do it if you can.
