Has anyone fitted a cat flap in PVC door?

We are thinking of putting a cat flap in our kitchen door- it's glass on top and PVC on bottom. We got some quotes and the cheapest was £65 fitted but I'm not sure if it's something dh could do quite easily (and not take an entire weekend!)

Has anyone done this?

Yes, we did it.
We drilled a hole and then used a jigsaw to cut through it. It cut really easily and the cat flap covers any dodgy cutting Smile

If we can do it I'm pretty sure anyone can as we are hopeless DIY people!

Do it yourself, drill a hole and then use a junior hack saw to cut the right shape. Again the cat flap covers dodgy cutting.
We are also hopeless at DIY and I have now fitted 4 cat flaps.

Thanks, that is very encouraging! Silly question but did you take the door off before putting the flap in? What type if cat flap did you use?

Same as chocoholic here. We did it in our old house as well.

Didn't take the door off, just as the above have described. The flap is just a standard plastic, lockable flap.

Just thinking about it, I think I might have found a nice little earner for myself - 'Experienced flap engineer, £50 per flap (cats and small dogs only)'.

Sounds good to me! Dhaka is pretty handy but a real perfectionist and I can see it taking over an entire weekend! I will ask him tonight...

Just to say I have no idea what Dhaka means. Blimmin predictive text!

Yes, I've also fitted them in UPVC doors, it's a doddle, just don't cut too big.
