I'm trying to walk a National Trail, or part of one every year and 2026 is the Norfolk coastal path. Has anyone walked it and got any tips?

I walked a section of it but unfortunately that included the infamous shingle section and some hours plodding through that was the low point. The other bits were pleasant enough. Good as a low impact relaxing walk. Apart from the shingle, grrrr.

Have you done your walk?
I did it in bits, parking up then getting the coast hopper back to the car.
It’s greatly varied- the salt marches are weird but amazing, the dunes are great, there is a huge long sandy expanse around wells/holkham, surprisingly lovely parts around Trimingham, also West Runton, nice gentle cliffs, some very fancy villages, some more down at heel ones.
Some great pubs but you will be short on cafes for huge stretches- some of it is very wild. Take sandwiches and a flask!!

The shingle part is the worst, I agree. But it has a certain bleak misery, especially if you do it in the rain

The shingles are awful and feel like they go on for ever. The rest is great though, I took a she wee which was well used as most of the coastal cafes seemed to have shut down along with any public loos. The coastline is very varied and really stunning, we saw lots of seals and very few other walkers. Enjoy.

We're due to walk in April so looking forward to it, well apart from the shingles bit anyway! We've booked accommodation so will get dropped off and picked up at the start and finish each day. We really try and support local cafes etc but we'll make sure we take plenty of food and drink just in case there still isn't much open.
I'll let you know what we thought when we've done it.

You will have a lovely time- there will be gorse out and lots of skylarks. The stretch round Holkham and Wells is fab.
