I’m doing an induction next week and plan on making it a regular event.
Please may someone guide me towards the right kit to buy and the right place to
buy it from?
TIA

There is no right and wrong. It's very individual and depends on many things - sea/river, season/temperature, group or individual, stroke type, swim or swimble etc etc.

My basic kit is cossie, leggings, rashie, neoprene vest, wetsuit boots, fluo swim hat, drybag tow float, aquapac for keys, goggles, ear plugs & whistle. Dry side is changing mat, tub trug and towelling poncho and then warm clothing according to temps. Also alcohol hand gel to clean hands and water to wash face and rinse mouth.

Where are you swimming? I wouldn't buy a load of kit before you start. You might not end up using it. You need a costume, swim hat and towel to start with! Warm drink and warm clothes for after. The rest (however much or little that is) can be built up as you need it.

My Sumner kit and winter kit is completely different, and changes again based on conditions, location, swim type. Some kit makes it easier but it's not essential!

Hope you enjoy it. If you don't, I would assume its the group not the water and try someplace else!!

Thank you RevealTheHiddenBeach. It's at a "well maintained lake".
