Looking for somewhere outdoors around Cambridge / St Neots to meet a friend. Between us 5 children ages 7,5,3,2,1.

Outdoor adventure playground with space to run around.

Suggestions?

I'll say Hinchingbrooke Country Park just to bump for you - not been there myself!

summerlovingvibes · 22/08/2023 22:37

Googling now - thanks!

Not quite the right area but Stanwick Lakes isn't a million miles away and is great for kids, just be prepared for them to get soaked and sandy!

Hinchingbrooke park
Riverside park, St Neots
Brampton woods (no playground but nice walks!)
Aztec Crazy golf at Dobbies, Huntingdon
Stanwick lakes (probably too far!)
Paxton pits nature reserve

Oh I know.. Lammas Land, Cambridge! Lido is full too...

Thanks - I know it well and love it! But would be about 1.5 hours for my friend so a bit too far (she's in Bishop Stortford so Cambridge is more central.) but thanks for the suggestion :)

Milton Country Park?
great ice cream there too!

Wimpole

Lammas Land is lovely but will get rammed and parking isn't easy
An alternative on the outskirts of Cambridge is cherry Hinton hall. Also has a big playground and a paddling pool. Plus there's a stream for more paddling the other side of the park. And parking a car is less of a hassle.

I was going to suggest Milton Country Park and Wimpole (or Anglesey Abbey or even Wicken Fen) too! Thetford Forest is great for this kind of thing, but probably too far for the person in Bishops Stortford. When I've met up with friends from round there, we've gone to Hatfield Forest, which might also work for you?

summerlovingvibes · 22/08/2023 22:48

Thanks everyone so far.
Milton CP & Hinton Hall look pretty good :)

Audley End near Saffron Walden?

Play park is smallish but by the cafe so you can grab a cuppa while you catch up. Plus lots of grounds to explore.

Shepreth wildlife park might be worth a look- has animals and indoor and outdoor play areas.
