Above ground pool

We're looking at getting an above ground pool this summer. My 7 year old can't swim at all so we thought we'd use the time to build up her confidence. Does anyone have either a 3m or 4m one? Is it possible for children to actually swim in them or are they not really big enough? Thanks!

We've had one, you need space, serious space. The depth they are at are good but you will need a heater. The sun doesn't heat it at all, the amount of water is so much. Also think about the fact if it's in the sun (for warmth) it's going to attract algae and will need a chlorine dispenser x

We had one and it was brilliant. We bought a salt chlorinator, so you just add salt and it turns it into chlorine to kill all the nasties. You have to keep on top of clearing it out daily, but we found that it got up to about 22 in the middle of summer, which is lovely on a hot day. The coldest we ever went in was 17 - which was fine once you were in (a bit like swimming in the sea). I'd love another one. Ours was 4 meters and you could swim about 2 or 3 strokes across (as an adult) or much better swim round the edge.

We had a round one it was 15 ft in diameter and my youngest learnt to swim in it - we also had fun as a family walking in a circle to make a current and then all floating in it ! We used wetsuits when the heater packed up

@jellybeanteaparty we did the circling thing too. Out of nowhere someone would shout "Whirlpool!" and we all had to start going round.
