Kids playing at park told to shut up by neighbouring house?

So I'm at the park the other day with my kids playing. They're not being LOUD by any means but then again it is a kids playpark not a library so I don't tell them to be quiet. They're playing tag so occasionally yelling TAG and giggling etc. The park backs directly onto a house / garden. There's a fence that seperates the garden an house. Anyway at 3pm the lady from this house shouts out of her window to 'shut up and have consideration for other people around as she's trying to rest' what would other people's reactions be? I'm confused about what to think but it's put me off going to the park again which is a shame as it's my favourite/closest one to our house! :(

If your DC are not making excessive noise, I’d just ignore. If she doesn’t like noise of DC playing, she bought the wrong house.

Assuming the park was there when she bought the house, and your children weren't being ridiculously loud or behaving badly, she was being unreasonable I think.

whatlouisesaid · 05/08/2019 16:35

@Roomba , I'm not sure whether the park came first or the house to be honest! They were noisier than they would be in a house but just normally giggling and playing not bad language etc! :(

Tell her it's tough .. I live on a new estate and the playground came 5 years after the houses.. every single house alongside the park is for sale so I'm guessing it's a bit shit living there but you do have a choice and frankly it was on the grand plan before they bought so 🤷‍♀️

SnuggyBuggy · 05/08/2019 16:40

I'd ignore, it's 3 pm ont 7 am and chances are they chose to live near a park. Its like people who move near schools then whinge about people parking nearby

AuchAyeTheNo · 05/08/2019 16:44

Tell her to move house if she doesn’t like the noise. It’s the outdoors, she can’t control the noise kids make in a park.

Couldn't agree more, I used to live by one the only thing that pissed me off was people parking across my drive with dropped curb. Otherwise they need to take their kids to school and a school is a nice quiet neighbour generally Smile

Yanbu op, some people think they shouldn't have to share the world with anyone else.

If the sound of children playing upsets her so much she needs to sell up and move.

Ignore. I'm near a park.
Loud kids are great. Keeps the drug dealers away.

Shopkinsdoll · 05/08/2019 16:53

If the kids were doing the high pitch scream then I would agree with the lady but if not let the kids play

Teateaandmoretea · 05/08/2019 16:57

meglet 😂😂

Well quite.....

Vesperia · 05/08/2019 17:02

I would ignore her & let them make plenty of noise next time. They are kids at a park during the day. Not swearing teenagers playing music & swearing into the evening

Maybe pop some ear plugs through her letterbox

I know this is an old message, but have to add as I live next to a play park. Generally I don't mind kids playing outside, however it is Generally a good idea to think of other people living nearby.
Don't forget, people have disabilities, work nights and so much more. It's tiresome reading people's " Let them be noisey they are kids"
Honestly what is this teaching our children?
Play parks should not be near residential housing. I will always remind parents about excessive noise. As I am disabled and sleep during the day due to it. So excessive noise effects my physical health and mental health.
To reiterate kids should play and be themselves. But noise which bothers other people, as you said she was trying to rest. Which could be due to health reasons.

To recap let them play but always make sure they don't disturb other people. Something which should be taught at a young age to consider others

Play parks should not be near residential housing.

Yes they should that’s the whole point of them. They give access to play space close to housing for kids who don’t have lots of space of their own 🤦🏻‍♀️.
