My daughter is at the stage where she needs lots of new things to do as she gets bored easily but she's 3 months under 3 so very limited to activities! I found swimming and ballet and she's in school 2 mornings a week which is all I can afford only working part time, so I was thinking pets like a guinea pig or a ferret (obviously a kit and not an older one cos I know they can nip so thinking younger so they can grow tolerant of each other).. I took her to a friends farm yard and she got stuck right in helping out without being asked! And we have room for a couple of hens.. what have other people done for their bored children to get them involved and learning responsibility. ( I know I'll end up looking after the animals lol that's why I'm thinking ferrets cos they're very fun and can learn so much more than rabbits / guinea pigs.) but is there other activities I haven't even thought of!! Thank you!! Xx

She'll learn more by just "being". At home, in the garden, at the park... chances to develop in all areas.

If you want a pet, get one but don't think it'll teach her anything... she got stuck in today because it was new; it'll soon get old for a 2/3 year old

We don't do any real activities as we live in the countryside and there aren't any near us. Here are some ideas of things we do do with our 3 and 4 yr old.

growing vegetables and herbs - give them responsibility for watering and let plants die / droop if they don't water them.

Being involved with 'working' and helping other people (neighbours, older relatives) because they need help and its nice/good to help other people.

lots and lots of reading - big book of why, and where do babies come from are favorites with our toddler and pre schooler at the moment.

posters of space, a world map etc to get them talking about new things - ours has animals, people on it so we talk about why they are dressed as they are, what animals live where etc

dressing up and role play also creates lots of new conversation topics

making some simple things with wood - practice using a ruler, hammer etc - might be out of your comfort zone but seems to be great fun for our kids at least.

It's a good thing that your daughter want's to learn everything. It's a good sign. She can also learn new things by just being at home.

Help with cooking
Water play - measuring etc
Painting/cutting/sticking etc
Exploring music - singing, percussion 'instruments' (home made shakers/rattles etc) for rhythm, dancing
Exploring outdoors - leaf and bark rubbings, bird spotting, flower id etc - use books, spotter's guides etc
