I'm SE London and I shall be doing:
Hall Place (gardens of all kinds, greenhouses, river with geese, kids easter egg hunt)
Greenwich Park (revamped apparently) & walk by river
Oxleas woods & woodslands farm (lovely cafe in woods)
Chessington ARGH Grin

I'm considering going to the Harry Potter thingy at Leavesden on my own Blush

dh, dd not interested - I don't like harry potter much but I do like the intricacies of 'sets'.

Slubberdegullion · 23/03/2012 16:57

I have a new book called Walks on the Lleyn Peninsula so we shall be doing some of them including I hope our annual Easter Egg hunt along the coastal path starting at Porth Oer. Every year we get a bit further as the dds' legs get a bit less drippy.

Probably will do Ness Botanic Gardens too as they are veh lovely will top notch views across to N Wales.

If the weather is nice, Winchelsea beach. The Devils Kneading Trough above Wye is nice to walk. Woodchurch Rare Breeds Centre. Its all W this year.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 23/03/2012 18:01

I'm pondering the Cotswolds for a couple of days as a change from our usual Lakes adventure. dh has a dodgy knee and I'm not sure it'll take him up Great Gable which was the original plan.

MegBusset · 23/03/2012 18:41

GK you must live very near where I grew up, spent a lot of time running round Oxleas Wood and Hall Place :)

We're off to the New Forest. Hope the weather stays nice!

TheOriginalGlitterKitty · 23/03/2012 20:06

The Devils kneading trough sounds ace.

I used to have a book of places about places of interest in uk when I was a kid ... spent ages persuading my parents to take us to various brilliantly named landmarks. Only to stare blankly at a load of grantite and try and visualise the devil stirring his porridge in it...

I've just bought NT membership (cashback on quidco at the mo) for the year.

I plan on getting every last ounce out of it!

GrimmaTheNome · 23/03/2012 23:20

The Devil's Chimney is fairly convincing - one for saggars and her dodgy DH perhaps, its cotswoldish.

Our main easter outing this year isn't outdoorsy shite, its two performances at the RSC with Warwick castle in the middle - sorry about that. And an overnight in Ulverstone, probably some walking on the coast there. Hopefully a couple of days out in Lakes... I want to get DD up a decent sized mountain, she went off walking for a few years but seems to be showing interest again, which one do you reckon has best fun:slog ratio for a (TBH) rather unfit 13 year old?

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 24/03/2012 16:42

Thanks for that Grimma. Smile

Re the mountain - My definitely not would be Skiddaw. I found it a bit of a bore on the way up TBH.

nannynick · 24/03/2012 16:52

I need to plan things to do 2, 3 and 5 April... in Surrey/Berkshire/Hampshire area, for 3 children aged 18mths to 7yrs. Anyone know of anything good going on?

Beginning of the following week I will be going to North Wales and will probably go up Snowdon on the Tuesday (I hope it does not pour with rain like it did the last time I went up there... in August).

MegBusset · 24/03/2012 19:23

Grimma how about Yewbarrow, not too strenuous, great views and you can have nice lunch at the Wasdale Head Inn. (Having said that, last time we tried it a thick fog rolled in, we couldn't see three feet ahead of us and had to turn back!)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/03/2012 19:29

We're going to Whitby. I intend to read a lot of books and eat a lot of chips. :)

FryingNemo · 24/03/2012 21:22

We are heading up an alp. Nice walks on the Rothorn if the weather's nice. Swimming if not.

Sirzy · 24/03/2012 21:24

I will be in Whitby for the week, not sure what we have planned but weather permitted as much walking as 2 year old legs will let us do!

GrimmaTheNome · 24/03/2012 21:37

My definitely not would be Skiddaw
ITA. Slog and no scramble. DH keeps mentioning it but I don't think its a good choice (and its quite a long drive though the roads are good)

Yewbarrow looks good though that part of the Lakes prob too far for a daytrip (we're near Preston, so coming up M6...reckon it'd be a couple of hours). maybe we'll have a crack at Helvellyn from the Thirlmere side, (that was the second mountain I ever climbed at about DDs age). She did the Pendle circular today staying in front most of the way (only part ploy on our part) - glorious day for it Smile

fluffypillow · 24/03/2012 21:46

A day out in Brighton is top of the list. Fun on the pier, followed by shopping and lunch in 'the lanes'.

EssieW · 24/03/2012 22:03

Yewbarrow = slog too unfortunately. Looks lovely and the top bit is nice and semi-ridge like but the path up to it is murder on the leg muscles.

Easter - we're heading to Derbyside. Hoping to cycle a bit of the Tissington Trail and Manifold valley. Will try and do some walking too if DD (2 and a half is up for it) - Froggatt Edge most likely.

SunshineOutdoors · 24/03/2012 22:06

nannynick we're off to Snowdonia in April too. I've just started a thread which has already got some great ideas for things to do on from lovely mnetters. Take a look if you want other things to do too.

SunshineOutdoors · 25/03/2012 00:57

Thanks for your suggestions on that thread nannynick you obviously do have some good other plans for your stay!

violetwellies · 02/04/2012 10:16

I shall stay-at-home and snarl at people who let There dogs off the lead in the lambs field.
