Experiences of cytopoint injections for allergies

DDog1 is 21 months old. He's a mixed breed (rescue). In January this year he had a flare up of his skin. Vet presumed allergy of some sort that had got infected with licking / scratching. Antibiotics and steroids settled it down.
However since then he has had several flare ups. We don't know what's causing it but pretty sure it is not food related.
Seen vet numerous times and they're fairly certain it's environmental and thus unavoidable so are focusing on treating symptoms not finding out cause.
Steroids always clear it but wanting to avoid due to side effects for long term use etc
We tried Zenrelia - were on month 4, all going well until he had a flare up last week.
We went back to vets and they've suggested adding in cytopoint injections as well as Zenrelia.
So dog has had that injection and a steroid spray to clear up the current flare up.
Things have settled down quickly which is good.
Vet now saying we have to decide if we stay doing both Zenrelia & cytopoint injections
Increase dose of Zenrelia but stop injections
Drop Zenrelia and just do injections
Honestly I have no idea - apart from to trial and error and see what works.
Any experiences?
Cost is a consideration but he is insured and on lifetime policy and they're covering so whilst I don't want to waste his cover unnecessarily on expensive drugs I also don't need to worry about paying out for treatment if he needs it.
Vet is adamant allergy testing is futile - I sort of get their POV but am wanting to find the 'answer' to what it is also.

My dog had two cytopoint injections. The first one helped, but the second one did nothing.

I saw a dermatologist and he did allergy testing. Blood and skin patch tests. When I said people say it's a waste of time, he said not if you know what you are doing and some tests are better than others.

My dog was allergic to lots of things. He had immunotherapy treatment - a special concoction mixed up for him, to treat his specific allergies. It was monthly injections. The vet showed me what to do and I administered them at home.

Definitely not a cheap option though. It was about £3.5k for the appointment, tests and medication.
