Female dog urine incontinence in hot weather

DDog is 6 and no health concerns. Spayed young (5-6 months) as the rescue spayed before rehoming.

Came to us aged about 7 months 90% house trained, the occasional accident if she couldn't get to the garden in time. Those showed up as a small wet patch on the carpet.

In the past couple of months she has had a number of occasions where she has been incontinent while curled up daydreaming, snoozing or in a deep sleep.

After the first 2 occasions I took her to the vet. She was tested for a UTI but it was clear. There wete a few weeks with either no incidents or possible incidents (damp also comes when she is grooming herself and licking the bed while cleaning herself).

Yesterday and today she was definitely incontinent in her bed.

Thinking about it, it us possibly connected to the heat, as the definite incidents have been during heatwave weather.

I have made another appointment with the vet, but they were a bit stumped the first time, and I sure will welcome suggestions.

Has anyone else experienced this? Am desperately hoping it isn't the other Google answer of dementia...

It could be spay incontinence - one of our dogs had that and it resolved very quickly with Incurin.

How old was your dog? The vet seemed to think this would have started earlier if spaying was the cause. But she was open about not having come across this and needing to research further if it continued.

my dog has this, male aged 9, its the heat. He's never done it before and now it's always in his sleep. We worked out its because he is drinking more due to heat. Does your dog have access to a garden and you just let her in and out all the time?

Yes, she has free access. It only happens when she is curled up and relaxed and urinates in the bed. If she squats to urinate she always does it outside.

We don't let her in and out, or notice when she goes out, we just have the back door open. Perhaps we need to be a bit more organised about taking her outside rather than assuming she will notice when she needs to go

My girl has weed on the floor overnight occasionally during the heatwave. She seems OK in every other respect.
I am hoping it is simply that she is drinking more…

Ours was about 7 or 8 when it started, I think. Certainly no younger than that.

This could be the case then. The vet thought it would have started when she was younger, but was looking it up herself
