It’s been suggested by vet for my DDog with chronic tummy issues (IBD)
I know it’s not a magic bullet, but at this moment I’m open to all suggestions … just looking for real life experience (as it’s that common)

My dog had one, as he also had IBD. I'm afraid it didn't help him.

@SpanielsGalorethank you, can I please ask what happened? Do they know why it failed? Does your dog still have issues? If not - what did help?
sorry many questions x

The procedure is simple enough. It's like colonic irrigation with his poo being flushed out and then donor stool being flushed in. All done while he was awake, without sedation.

They didn't give a reason why it failed. They said at the time, it works for some dogs but not for others. So I thought it was worth a try.

My dog's story is not a good one, I'm afraid. I got him aged 7 months. At first, I thought I was struggling to find a food that agreed with him, as his stools were not good. But at 9 months old, he started vomiting and lost a lot of weight. After months of tests, he was finally diagnosed with IBD.

The only thing that helped him was a strict hypoallergenic food diet. He was better on four small meals a day, rather than two big ones. He stopped vomiting and gained weight, but his stools still ranged in consistency. I became an expert in poo and had a folder full of photos on my phone. He always seemed to be in pain though - some days it would be only mild discomfort; other days he'd hide in his cage and not move.

Unfortunately, he developed other health issues. He had several debilitating allergies. His skin came off in big flakes. He had constant ear infections. He was always itchy. The drugs he had to take to keep the itching and infections under control inflamed the IBD.

After battling ill health for almost three years, I made the decision to have him put to sleep. His quality of life had become very poor and he was obviously unhappy and suffering. He hadn't had a 'good' day for seven months by that point.

Are you on Facebook? There are some excellent support groups for people with dogs with IBD on there. Many knowledgeable people who can interpret test results and offer advice.

Lots of dogs do manage to live long and happy lives with IBD. My friend's dog is stable enough to be allowed the occasional tripe stick now. My dog was just very unlucky. (I blame his poor breeding and shit start in life - lockdown cash cow puppy and I was his third home.)

Sorry I couldn't be more positive for you. I hope you find something that helps your poor dog. IBD is a bastard disease.

Thank you @SpanielsGalore I’m so sorry about your boy 😞
I’m not on Facebook, but I do have 700000 pictures of dog poo on my phone 😳 (my dog btw, not just random poo pictures 😂 although there’s enough in the village to start a gallery 🙄)
It really sucks for sure though
thank you for your time x
