Brush recommendations for a Tibetan terrier who dislikes grooming

Our Tibetan terrier isn’t a big fan of grooming.

The lilac coloured plastic brush is tolerated but the blue brush, which is needed to get through the matts, is not liked at all (apart from behind the ears)

Is there some middle ground brush wise that you would recommend?

TIA

I have something very similar to this for my wire hair terrier. He didn’t used to like grooming but would be ok with this. I think it’s similar to your blue one but with more flexible bristles.

It looks very much like managing a poodle puppy coat before the adult Curly stuff comes in.
I had a bristle brush for first going over, a metal comb with close and wide spaced teeth and a slicker brush.
You have to groom them every day and down to the skin every few days or they do tangle, mat or felt. It helps if you have a dog that will lay down and you can part the coat and do it in small sections.
Can you take DD to a groomer, get a puppy clip ( apparently this is a thing for TTs ) then manage the coat before it tangles again.

You can't manage knots by dragging a slicker brush through them.

Have you tried a human tangle tweezer.

Thanks for all the suggestions. There are no tangles or matting at the moment as the dog has recently been to the groomer. the groomer likes me to use the blue brush regularly to prevent matting but the dog doesn’t like it.
This afternoon I tried this, which I think might even be a cat brush; the dog tolerated it for longer that the blue brush but I don’t think it’s really doing the job. I shall check out the other suggestions. Thanks again.

Have you tried a human tangle tweezer.

I used one of these for my late Tibetan Terrier. It worked a treat along with a wide toothed metal
comb recommended by my groomer.

Madan pin brushes are very, very good as are the Chris Christensen ones. I use those for my long haired show dogs.

I have Tibetans.

My go to coat care tools are a good grooming spray/ hair oil, a metal comb with rotating teeth and an undercoat rake.
I only use a slicker brush on matted areas (when they haven't been brushed in a couple of days....) You have to be careful with these as often the hair breaks and leads to more mutts later on. Do not use mutt splitters for the same reason.

Before brushing apply & work in your grooming spray or hair oil.

Then work the main body and lager areas with the undercoat rake. This will gently get rid of the dad hair and any debris in the coat. Then go over it with the comb.
Use the comb for the face, legs, feet and armpits and tail. The comb is gentler and depending on your dogs coat, you might have to work in a lot of grooming spray / oil to keep it looking good and tangle free for longer.

I have one Tibetan that loves getting groomed and will fall asleep lying on the floor. The others are brushed on the grooming table...

Just seen this as literally just finished a full bathe and groom. As others have said Madan and Chris Christensen brushes or combs are excellent. I use 3 things for brushing, tangles and knots on my two full coated Shih Tzu . A Chris Christensen pin brush, for tangles a Chris Christensen slip pin brush (specifically designed for tangles) and a Chris Christensen butter comb for anything a bit more than tangled. Always spray a grooming spray, you can get away with a diluted conditioner. Where you can use fingers to gently loosen mats before combing and always start from the bottom of a knot or tangle. These items are not the cheapest but they work and last a long time.

This is exactly the same routine that I do with the same equipment plus I have a few of the Madan brushes & Chris Christensen Gold Series brushes, expensive but worth it. A good grooming spray is essential, I have a few from iGroom & Chris Christensen mainly. Don’t buy from Amazon, they’re dearer on there than at specialist suppliers like Christie’s Direct or Petcetera.
