Hi there

We recently got a 10 week old long haired basset hound puppy. I have always used petplan for our cats but the lifetime insurance for £7000 is coming in at £75 a month?!? Is this typical? Others such as many pets for the same is £45 a month but I just don't know if they are any good?

I wasn’t impressed with petplan.

had it for my dog, he had a leg injury. Yes they paid out for the op, no hassle but not for the aftercare and physio. Then it was considered “pre existing” and no insurance for the same or a similar injury.

i now have a savings account for vet fees. In the last 20 years of pet ownership it’s a significant amount now, and has covered everything so far.

We have lifetime insurance with Petgevity and they seem good (and a lot cheaper than your quote- different breed though).

Ditto. Petgevity have been excellent with my dog. £80 a month for a 9 year old dog for £12,000 of cover per incidence. They have just paid out £6000 for a mast cell tumour removal, into my bank within 5 days of sending an invoice.
