Missing the evening walk?

Gargh, it’s still 79billion degrees here

DDog won’t poo in garden, we did try stepping outside for a poo walk at 9pm but turned back after 2 minutes as he was panting (and I’m completely neurotic)

He is still in recovery from pancreatitis (prob 4weeks?) so poo is still a bit sloppy, but I think the heat not helping that either

is it really bad to not walk this evening? (fwiw we’re up at 5am) I hate this weather

Our dog doesn't look remotely interested in the evening walk, so we have given up on it.
He had a full on panting session today because we needed to take him out to town with us to run errands, and he was struggling.
They can't be over exerted in this heat, so the dusk walk is off.

My dog has never had an evening walk in his life!

I've pulled mine out of her day care day this week and just forfeited the money 🤷🏼‍♀️

It isn't worth it.

My dog won’t poo in the garden either, I just walked him early and late.

I hate the hot weather as well.

No dog ever died from missing a walk, dogs die all the time from walking in the heat.

Read the weather and just use some common sense is my go-to on this. If it’s too hot I don’t walk mine until it’s cooler. Simples. Mine do go out in the evening normally, but it’s been later on recently due to the heat. If they were out earlier and aren’t looking bothered, we give it a miss.

Do they? I’m not denying this happens occasionally but I’m not sure it happens all the time.

There does seem to be an increasing hysteria about taking dogs out when it’s sunny.

It definitely doesn’t happen all the time - the social media warriors have put the fear of God into a lot of dog owners imo. It’s sad.

I work with dogs and am more cautious than I would be with my own, but a lot of my caution sadly comes from the fact that I know my business will be dragged through the mud if I don’t follow the arbitrary figures set out online.

I have tried to save dogs who have been walked in the evenings some have survived other happens, but also remember the tarmac spends all day absorbing the heat and the evening is hotter than the air temperature last week I saw a dog with third degree burns up all it pads, yes it’s going to survive, but it will be a long and painful road to recovery.
Not a social media warrior and ordinary GP vet regularly dealing with these cases.

But as a vet you’re only going to see the dogs who have issues, not the thousands of others who go for their walks as normal and never have any problems.

This
I have a black lab, he's perfect weight, and super healthy. He comes running with me for an hour sometimes, or gets 15 minutes scamper around a local field. It depends on how much time I have. He would obviously like to walk all day but this is not going to happen.

I don't understand this obsession with walks, locking yourself into in unsustainable routine.

Never have an issue day they do. There is no way to predict when or if a dog is going have an issue is a walk really worth the risk of multi organ failure?

But the vast, vast majority of healthy dogs are not at risk of multi-organ failure if they go for a walk in the evening in the UK.

Stop scaremongering.
