Dogs digging out rats nest - good or bad?

Name changed for this.
My miniature dachshunds have found a rats nest in my vegetable raised bed. It is dug and composted every year but not yet (by me) this year.
So I went out to look at the excitement and found him digging a crater and her worrying 2 dead baby rats, and another untouched baby rat gently toddling off between their feet and going down a nearby rat hole.
Should I
a) tell them off (barking) and take them indoors
b) leave them to it
c) praise and point out escapees
d) Help them dig

I have currently done b) while I ask.
Obviously I want neither the barking nor the rats. The barking isn't constant but the rats will grow, currently large gerbil sized. It is what they are made to do and very "enriching".

Honestly, I'm team C. But I absolutely hate rats as they're disease ridden and kill other small wildlife that I do like (lizards, frogs, bird eggs etc).

Your dogs are doing what they were literally made to do...it's just like a Golden Retriever retrieving or a spaniel flushing or a Collie herding. Nice to hear of a dog so in tune with it's genetics 😁

Weren't daschunds bred to dig for badgers? It's what they do. And whilst I don't want anything to be killed, I also don't want rats.

(Wait until they try to drag a dead badger home....)

Make sure you are up to date with flea and worm treatment and keep an emergency first aid kit near by incase a dog gets bitten

Thanks, yes they had all their jabs and pills last month.
I would certainly intervene if they were taking on a badger! Luckily we don't have those nearby. They do like to argue with a fox though.
I might encourage them a bit more next time then. I expect there will be a next time.
