Dog and camper van travel options

At the moment our 5 month old Lab travels in a crate in our camper van but she’s almost grown out of it. If we buy a larger crate and then take her camping ( which we haven’t done yet) the crate will take up so much room. What other solutions do people have for travelling with medium/large dogs in campervans?

Our lab sleeps in the awning tent, with the teens.

For sleeping or driving?
our travelled at the passenger feet or on the back seat
at night she slept under the pull out bed on her blanket though her preference was on top of the driving pedals 🤷‍♀️

Travel on a harness and then dog bed blocking the aisle at night. Stuff the bed wherever you can in the day.

When we went campervanning our labs were on the rear passenger seats wearing harnesses tethered to an anchor point. But of course depends on campervan layout and whether there are other passengers

Sorry, I wasn’t clear - I meant for driving. Can you get harnesses that allow a dog to lie on a bed on the floor?

I don’t mind her going on the passenger seats and there would be room, I just think she might feel more stable on the floor.

For our labrador we use a Dog Copenhagen harness and two Halti leads. We just tether her by tying the leads round the back of the seat and she lies on her bed or sits in between the seats. At night however she sleeps on the bed which I appreciate isn't for everyone.

buy a decent crash tested harness and attach her to the seat belt as the best and safest option.
