My 2 year old working cocker has been spayed today.

She can’t settle. Keeps getting up and turning around and then lying down again.

Has been 3 hours since pick up.

Do you think this is normal?

Yeah it is normal :) she’s trying to get comfy. Did they do it under neath? We put some of my daughters T-shirts on her to stop her trying to get to the wound and for out in the garden. She may also still be a bit spaced out too. Think by day 3 she was back to being a dafty

Aww I had a cocker spaniel, she got spayed and just wanted to lay down a lot of the time day of surgery and day after (I was 7 so can’t remember how many days it lasted) but do remember having to take her dinner bowl up to her bed and she didnt eat a lot. Wasn’t her usual self….but she perked up and went back to being her usual self and running around, can’t remember which point it was but yea it takes it out of them after they get spayed ♥️. Cockers are wonderful

Hopefully someone else will come along and advise how long it was for them (I know I was only 7 and remember the first night and next day she was all quiet, tired from the op)

Thanks. She seems fine. She has eaten a bit of chicken and had some water. Just seems uncomfortable. She has one of the body suits. She did come home with a collar of shame but luckily Mr Amazon delivered the suit .
She looks at me like she will never trust me again Sad.

Bless her, my lab girl was quite out of sorts; a bit woozy and unsteady.

My lovely male lab lay down beside her, and let her lean her head on his back. It was a one time deal as far as he was concerned. Poor girl was a rescue and had only been with us for a couple of weeks .

Your girl will perk up once the anaesthetic leaves her system.

Hi, yes totally normal. My Daschund was spayed 3 weeks ago now. I was dreading it as remembered from my previous two dogs it really took it out of them for a good 5 or more days.
However this girl seemed to bounce back much quicker. She was very sleepy on day one and slept in her crate. She wouldn’t touch food and was sick once. However by day 2 she was still quiet but eating again and wanting to be near us. We’d been recommended crate rest for 3 days then no running/ jumping/ stairs for 2 weeks but by day 2 she didn’t want to stay in the crate so we just tried to keep her to one room and let her rest near us instead. By day 3 she was much better and the hard thing then was keeping her from being too active and she’s generally a very energetic active dog! We kept the recovery suit on and lead walks in the garden for about a week and then started slowly increasing.
Hope your girl is on the mend but any worries anf give your vet a ring.
