Does your dog have a cafe mat?

On holiday we'll be frequenting cafes, pubs etc and want our dog (largish lurcher, quite boney) to be comfortable. Do you take a mat or something else with you? I know she wont settle or be comfortable lying on the floor

They're a dog, they sit on the ground

Mine does-a little fleece square.

She knows she is meant to stay on it and it is her spot so she settles.

Yes, we use the crate mat from when she was a puppy (not that she ever took to the crate!). It's got non-slip waterproof backing, is slightly padded, has a soft fur cover, washes easily, and folds up quite small. As she's part whippet she really appreciates it, and it was so useful for training her to chill out in pubs and cafes.

We've used a piece of vet bed and a towel when we've forgotten it but they were a lot less practical e.g. on damp grass. A friend uses an (empty) hessian bag for life for her cocker spaniel, she keeps her stuff in a separate bag inside and removes it as necessary. Whippet elbows mean my dog hates hessian though!

I'm on the lookout for one for my Lurcher, he's very bony and struggles on hard surfaces.

As for the they're a dog, they sit on the ground comment, lurchers and sighthounds often have to stand or lie down, as due to their conformation sitting can be uncomfortable. Couple that with hardly any fat and extremely thin skin, then hard surfaces can be uncomfortable at best and physically damaging at worst.

A travel mat is a good call.

Successfully used our new mat for the first time today. Was really nice as it kept him ‘contained’ next to me. https://amzn.eu/d/006MCd8g

Am reading all your suggestions. theaccomplice that looks comfy and a good size. Realising I 'm unlikely to get what I need for a tenner as I'd hoped

Well I googled baby duvets, 2nd hand ones etc but just thought this should last! It rolls up and is comfy enough for a pointy greyhound.
