Just this really. We’ve booked a family holiday and now just been offered a pup. They’d be 6 months old when we go. We are intending to crate train and would have a crate there.
First time dog mum, be kind.

We took our cocker spaniel to a holiday park place at 6 months and it was great. Loads of dog friendly pubs and NT type places around. Park restaurant qas dog friendly too so could eat out and bring her.

We've booked a holiday house in May when our puppy will be 6 months old. We know they allow dogs and we took our last puppy there so we know the property is suitable.

I'm a bit nervous about it as obviously, all puppies are different - and this one currently makes a fuss on a 5 minute journey in the car (the house is 3.5 hours away) - but I think it will be ok. Plenty of time before May to slowly build up confidence in the car .

It's a house near the beach and we can't wait to show him the beach and the sea (our previous dog loved it there). The breed is Labrador though and they are easy going dogs normally.

I took my lab puppy away for a few days when he was 5 months old with my 8YO DS. It was a small shepherds hut and all was fine (as far as he was concerned - I found it a bit stressful!) the best thing to come out of it was that I didn’t bring his crate (couldn’t fit it in the car with everything else and the place we were staying was too small) so he ended up sleeping on the bed with us and that is how I discovered I could sleep in for longer as it wasn’t his bladder waking him up at 6am! He’s slept in bed with me every since 😀

Agree with PP that they probably won’t be able to settle if you go out for meals etc. we had one particularly stressful evening of trying to eat a meal in a quiet pub garden and pup was losing his mind, chewing us, chewing the lead and barking at us. We ate in the hut after that!
