Hello I wonder if anyone had any ideas of what could be going on with my almost 6 year old patterdale x terrier boy .
i took him to the vets as he kept rubbing his head up against the chairs , my legs basically anything as if he was uncomfortable, when I rub his face / ears he makes noises like he’s enjoying it but not enjoying it , almost like a enjoyment but not.
we went to the vet , she said his ears were slightly inflamed so he had a course of antibiotics he’s just finished last night.
hes still doing the head rubbing against furniture , when I give him a good scratch in his back which he loves he is still making the noises like he likes it but I’m not sure if it’s also hurting him because it can sound almost like a whine at the same time.
i have explained this to the vet , hes put on weight the last few months but I think that’s because of me and not him I’ve cut his feed down.
hes always been a really fussy eater but as I said to the vet hes eating drinking weeing etc as normal i just dont think he sounds ok when hes having his rubs etc.
im sorry if i sound unhinged im just really worried.
we are back to the vets on Tuesday i am going to record the noises he makes to show her i just wondered if any of you knowledgable people on here might have any suggestions please
thank you for reading

Sounds like he’s still got an ear infection - they may need to swab it to see what’s causing it

The ear infection probably hasn’t cleared up yet.

Thank you both , if it’s the ears still that will make me worry less , I’ll ask them to take a swab on Tuesday , I do think it must be as that’s the area he keeps rubbing
thank you

It's really common for ear infections to take a while to clear up, so try not to worry. It may be that they need to try another type of antibiotic or just give you a longer course.

It can be so many things in dogs. It could be fungal (hence the itching) so the antibiotics may need something else with them. It’s horrible when they are suffering and it does sound like he’s telling you he’s in pain.
