How much do you pay for your dog insurance?

How much do you currently pay, what did your insurance start at, how old is your dog, and what breed?

Our dog died last year and we’re going to get another soon but just want to make sure I budget adequately for insurance. I’ve heard premiums have gone up a lot lately.

TIA

The other thing to factor in @MacBLT is that your location can make a difference. We discussed this on another thread and tested it out. @SpanielsGalore put in my dog's age and breed and was quoted a significantly lower premium than what I'm paying. She's about 350 miles further north than me and more rural.

Was just coming to say this. I'm North Scotland which is way cheaper than somewhere like Surrey.

There are so many factors to take into account that you can't really compare. But it gives you a rough idea of what to expect, I suppose.

Well that’s interesting, I didn’t think that would be a factor with pet insurance. We’re in Hampshire.

@SpanielsGalore yes my main concern was hearing that premiums have risen a lot in the last year or so, hence why I was also curious where people’s premiums had started. And knowing how some of our other bills have increased by an eye watering amount concerned me further.

3 year old female Springer Spaniel, no health issues. £10k of lifetime cover, I think it's a £100 excess

It went from £17 in year one to £21 in year 2 and the latest renewal at age 3 was £25. Coop.

PetPlan £60 pet month. 12k cover. Covered for Life. She's a two-year-old terrier.

Started at £18/month for a 12 week old lab, was £200/month when we had her put to sleep at 9...she had a lot of health issues though. That was with Sainsbury's

PetPlan, mixed breed poodle, 7.9kg, 2 years old, lifetime policy with top level cover - £48 a month.

8yo beagle - we pay £67 a month with Tesco. Never claimed but we have lifetime cover up to 15k.

Napo for our 4 year old lab
Started at £10 per month 1st year, then £21 then £38 now £101. Still happy to stay with them as we have had a few thousand ££ more in treatments than we have paid out already. Plus lifetime cover and have been happy with their service. Will probably only reconsider once she hits 8 or 9 / premium dependent whether we just have a savings account for her. We are lucky that we're financially comfortable and could cover a big bill if needed though.

Labrador 12 yrs old £147 a month GSD 3 yrs old £70 a month.
