Have always been with Petplan but really expensive now - nearly 1k per annum for a 5 year old Cocker and have never claimed. Just wondered if anyone had any alternative recommendations

Thank you to everyone for all their suggestions - will definitely look at Sainsburys and Animal Friends at renewal. Wishing you all a lovely Xmas x

I’m with Waggel for my 7 year old miniature dachshund. It auto renewed this year, which I wasn’t expecting, but only went from £26 a month to £37. I haven’t claimed.

That’s for £10k cover and also dental.

I’m with Petgevity (formerly PetSure) for my 3 year old Chihuahua and so far they have been pretty good at paying out for the Physiotherapy sessions he has for his luxating patellas. I’ve heard that they will cover older dogs and dogs with pre-existing conditions where others might refuse.

Does anyone have an experience of LV (used to be Liverpool Victoria) pet insurance?
I’ve had a very competitive quote from them, but would value any recent experience.

I’ve always used petplan. They might be expensive but after having 2 cats that ran up £20k worth of vet bills in 4 years between them, with petplan paying out every time without a murmur, I thought they were good value!

I’m with Waggel. I pay just over £14 / month for £8000 lifetime cover. I agreed to use Joli who are an intermediary service prior to any treatment so a call handler then vet advise if needed so bring down the monthly cost. The dog is a 12 month old collie. I recently had to make a claim & they paid out with no problems.
