Joint supplements

Can anyone recommend a good joint supplement for a 10 year old dog? There seem to be so many alternatives & difficult to know if they’re all pretty much the same or if some are better.

I’ve tried a few with no discernible effect. Might be my dog but I tend to think they are waste of money to be honest, but will check back see if anyone has found a good one!

We use 'dog oil' it was developed for greyhounds during their time racing.
(Can also be used by humans)
It's not a miracle cure. Our 11 year old dog has a stiff back leg we rub it on before his morning and evening walk.
He seems to be able to walk a good way.

DH used it on his knee, not the same tub, he's not in pain anymore.
We got it from eBay.

I used to give our old collie Yumove, after checking the ingredients I noticed that it is basically green lipped mussel extract, which is much much cheaper unbranded and available on Amazon. It did actually make a huge difference. She was on that for years.

Riaflex. I use the most expensive one with the green lipped mussel in it.
It is far superior to Yumove.
I also use Golden Paste which you can get off Amazon.

I use green lipped muscle. Also recently started PEA by Vince the Vet. They help but not the miracle product that many of the reviews suggest.

But why are you asking, @LadyBlakeneysHanky? Is it just your dog's age? Or have you noticed something? Might be time for painkillers from the vet or at least a vet check.

My 11 year old collie cross has Joint Sure and Loxicom (the latter on prescription) and he whizzes around very happily.
In my experience, the supplements can help a bit, but the meds can be life changing. About a year ago, mine was on limited exercise due to his stiffness, but now he’s back to his youthful self.

ProDogRaw Flex makes the most difference for my older dog.

Thanks all. Yes my dog (10) has seen vet several times recently and has had a couple of weeks of a painkiller containing paracetamol and codeine. However the vet has reduced the dose & I’m worried she is getting sore again.
It sounds like the supplements are not a magic solution so I will ask vet why the painkillers have to be decreased.
