I have searched some old threads and found that people have had a fair bit of success with treatments for this (Propalin?) but I am worrying about side effects. Ai summary tells me it increase fight of flight response. My girl is quite nervy already. Has anyone had any experience?

There are several treatment options once you have rule out a urinary Tracy infection and diabetes. They don’t all have the same side effects.
In 27 years I have not yet have a dog have increased anxiety on Propalin.

My last dog developed incontinence at 5. She had extensive tests with no reason found. She was on propalin until her death at 17. There were no behavioural changes.

My 14yr old Dalmatian has been on Incurin since she was spayed when young and started leaking in her sleep. No side effects, and it worked really well, but had to try propalin when there was a National shortage of incurin this year. It was awful, and made her very anxious, and even more confused (she’s very old now), and she ended up snapping at my son. The vet found some incurin and she was back to normal- huge relief.

My 13 year old labrador has been on propalin for 10 years. It works really well for her with no side effects. I would recommend it.

My dog has been on propalin for a year with no side effects

My last dog was on Propalin since she was spayed, and, apart from a change in her coat (just didn’t grow as thick any more), she was absolutely fine. We tired Incurin at the beginning and she lost a lot of hair, so came off that quite quickly.

My old dog had it for the last few years of her life. She had no side effects and lived to be 19.

My girl was on Incurin for many years. No problems at all.

My dog is on propalin, no issues. Shes the most gentle girl.
