What did you do in your dogs last days?

We’ve decided that ddog1s quality of life has now tipped over the edge and have made his final appointment for Thursday.
we’ve been making the most of sunny days for a few months, taking him out in his trolley to see his friends etc.
Anything you’ve done that you look back on fondly in this situation?

I am so sorry. I found those last few days, waiting for the appointment, so upsetting.
We went on short walks to their favourite places and fed them whatever crap they wanted, but weren't usually allowed to have.

So sorry OP
I was in your situation a few years ago. I planned a home euthanasia, my boy was too unwell to travel and I just wanted him to be at home and comfortable.
During those few days, I stayed at home, alone with him and I just kept watching him, trying to fill myself with his image and scent, gave him loads of treats, and on our last night, I ordered McDonalds for both of us. First time ever I shared my fries!

On his last morning, he refused to eat, which never happened, so I knew I made the right decision.
Weirdly, I have very fond memories of that day. I cried a lot, but I was also at peace.

He was the best boy but also very high maintenance on his last year, so I weirdly felt relieved to a certain extent. I travelled a lot after that, and 6 months after he died, I started to feel the dog shaped hole getting bigger in my heart so I started the process to get a puppy, I was on a waiting list for quite some time, my puppy was born exactly a year and two days after my boy died.

I get where you are coming from, they embedded themselves in your heart, but do you really want him to wait most of a week when you know his quality of life is poor enough to warrant PTS? As soon as the balance tipped for my girl I made an appointment for that evening. We still had cuddles and junk food, but I wasn't prepared to make her hang on for me when a thousand lifetimes wouldn't have been long enough.

Thanks all.
@Sillysoggyspaniel very good point, but its been a long road to this point and he's been closely monitored by the vet. Currently he's on a non sustainable level of pain relief after a flare this week which he's comfortable on, but the flare hasn't resolved. So we have a few days - he's still eating/drinking/pottering slowly and enjoying his little life. Though as you say, a lifetime more wouldn't be enough.
@FastFood ddog1 has been very high maintenance for the last 2 years, so I understand. I have ddog2 still, and will go back to fostering dogs soonish which we've not been able to do while hes been immunosuppressed and fragile
