Scales so different?! Dog weight loss

So my pug needed surgery in July and when I took her in she was 11.7kg

The vet told me she was dangerously fat and I was pretty shocked.

I put her on a diet immediately and my at home scales had her at 11.7, before her op she went to 11.4 and a week post op she was 11.1kg. This was July.

Since her op she has been able to go on walks again (she was unable to exercise before her operation) and she has had ZERO treats. Completely cut them out and I was terrible for treating her.

So today I took her to the vets for an unrelated issue and weighed her. She came out at 8.7kg

The vet told me at her pre op she needed to lose 3kg so she hit her target!

I was delighted.

I haven't been weighing her at home.

However when i got her home i weighed her again (i have human scales and pick her up and weigh us combined then deduct my own weight)

And my scales say she is 11.2kg?!

So hasn't lost anything at all.

They are acurate scales for my own weight.

Could the vets scales be so off?

I’m assuming a 3kg weight loss is going to be visible - so does she look like she’s lost weight?

Can you search Pug body condition charts and compare your DD with the images of thin , just right and too fat pugs.

I thought she had lost a little but i was shocked to think 3kg, but i don't think she looks like shes lost nothing at all.

These are photos from preOp. Pre July

She does look overweight.

And these are today

She has clearly lost weight look at her waist I would trust the vet scales. The picking up in your arms method is quite unreliable.

If she's lost 30% of her body weight you should be able to see a noticeable difference. I took on an overweight foster dog in January. She's lost 10% of her body weight and everyone can clearly tell. She also moves better, can get on and off the sofa, up steps etc without being out of breath.
You need to drastically reduc the amount you are feeding. Feed the RDA for an 8kg dog and do weekly weigh ins. If she's not losing weight, reduce it even more. You could also switch to a 'light' food for weight control. Or a senior food if she's older, as they tend to have lower fat levels.

How far away is your vet? I can walk to mine in 30 minutes, and they're quite happy for people to drop in and use their scales to check how your dog is doing. ( In reception area). When your dog weighed the much lower amount, did you check the scales were set at zero properly first? Sometimes they need resetting. I'd have weighed DD twice on that occasion to reassure myself.

DD does look a bit slimmer in second pictures but not 3kgs slimmer.
