2 yr old dog. Started on Saturday. Got him some pro-kolin on Monday, so he’s had 2 days of that. It hasn’t made any difference so far.

He is absolutely fine in himself, drinking, eating, playing etc. he’s not more tired or anything.

Should I give the pro-kolin a day or more to work or vets tomorrow?

Call the vet tomorrow and they will advise. You'll get a sense of urgency from when the offered appointment is, as if still affected, tomorrow will be the 5th day.

Is it uncontrollable or just loose when he goes?

FoxRedPuppy · 15/10/2025 13:00

Just loose when he goes. He still takes about half an hour to decide on exactly the right spot. It is slightly more frequent. Maybe 3 times a day instead of 1-2 times.

Vet has suggested some probiotics they can sell to me, as he’s eating and drinking as normal. And no vomiting.

That sounds reassuring that an infection isn't suspected. Did you attend an appointment with an examination or just over the phone?

I've found psyllium husk capsules very effective at thickening the poo to make the dog more comfortable and reduce poo frequency. (Very effective for people too.)

Or a product like Pets Purest Tummy Settler containing bentonite clay.

Buddy and Lola Super Tummy Instant is another one we've tried, but is more expensive.

Hope pup gets better soon.
