I met an Irish terrier today and she was so lovely!
ticked a lot of boxes for me -
small to medium size
scruffy or wavy coat
slightly comedy OR looks like a fox
not too barky
nor too clingy/ separation anxiety

also spotted a King Charles border cross which sounds lovely
and id initially wanted a Jackapoo!
any thoughts?
yes I do like doodle, crosses, mixed breeds

My family has always had Irish Terriers, they are your typical energetic terriers.

As a PP says, Generally very loyal, loving and comical, with distinct personalities, quite food motivated. Great with the children and no issue with cats or the sight hounds they live with. They love playing bitey face and chase with the Whippets.

We have always done a lot with them, obedience classes, agility and breed social meet ups.

We have never had any behaviour issues, and I have come across maybe a couple of difficult IT's out of many- but no more than any other breed. At the breed meet ups they all run round in a pack of 20 odd IT with no issues.

As with all dogs the more you invest the more you get back from them.

Get a miniature poodle, they are fabulous dogs.

Thank you @pandaskitchen they sound lovely.

@Garamousalata id like a poodle but they fall under DH’s definition of a grandma dog….

I hear what you say about poodles. 🤣 The stupid haircuts have done nothing for the breed but it turns out that you can have them cut the same all over and underneath you have a perfectly normal looking dog. My poodle is mistaken for a doodle nearly every day. She’s very confident and plays really nicely with other dogs. Nothing grandma about her.

@pandaskitchen i wonder if we have met at breed meet ups… my two are very typical ITs and completely different personalities. We are often asked to meet puppies as they are so good at teaching pups boundaries and how to play with older dogs. Mine are older girls now (8&9) but still have as much bounce as any pup they meet.
