How do I get the vomit smell out of my carpet?!

DDog is occasionally sick, I usually clean it up quickly and there’s no issue. On Sunday we were out for a few hours, when we got home she’d been sick on the carpet in the lounge, non digested food. I cleaned it up as normal ( use the Dr Beckmann cleaner ) but it was a bit harder as obviously been sat there a while!
All seemed fine, got home from work on Monday and the house STINKS. Pretty sure it’s coming from the carpet, which doesn’t seem to want to dry. I’ve cleaned it again with a biological washing liquid solution, sprayed it with two types of foam cleaner stuff, febreze, disinfectant, hoovered, blotted with kitchen paper etc. I cannot get rid of the smell. As soon as I opened the bedroom door this morning I could smell it coming down the stairs ( there are two doors between the lounge and the stairs! ) it is pervading the whole house. I work in a vets and the smell is the same as when someone has left an open tin of dog food out over the weekend. Like rotting garbage.
I’m going to sprinkle it with bicarb and leave it for a while, then dig out the carpet cleaner, but does anyone have any tips if that doesn’t work? There’s no stain, just a stench! I can’t believe a small patch of puke can stink out a whole house! Help!!
( I should add DDog is fine, she’s on a lot of meds for arthritis and goes through these sicky phases unfortunately. I’m trying not to be cross when I’m cleaning it up 😁 )

Are you sure there's no other sick hiding somewhere?

Dog sick is never normally that bad (human vomit is far worse) so would seem odd for it to smell so much after cleaning.

Following. I have never found a totally satisfactory method to really solve this problem, despite requiring shares in Dr Beckmann’s business, kitchen towel manufacturers, etc

Bicarb worked for me in a similar situation - left it a day or so (covered with an old tea towel) then vacuumed it up and carpet still good as new. Not sure if it makes a difference but our carpet is 100% wool

I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find anything else it could be. If you sniff that bit of carpet ( ! ) it is the same smell so I’m pretty confident that’s the culprit.
I got the vax out so it’s had a good clean with carpet shampoo and again with more persil bio. Currently sat covered in bicarb so we will see 🤞 Will leave that as long as I can.
Doesn’t smell too bad at the moment as I’ve had the windows open all day, the test will be in the morning again I guess.

I should add it doesn’t actually smell like vomit, more rotten food. I’ve emptied the bin and checked/cleaned round the dog food bowls etc and it’s not that.

Simple Solution should get rid of the enzymes and neutralise the smell. Just leave it to soak in for a few minutes before washing it off.

However if it’s soaked through into the underlay you may never get it out without totally removing and replacing the carpet.

Well fingers crossed, I think it’s better! Maybe it just needed to dry. I have bought some enzyme spray from Pets at Home that I might have another go with just to be certain. Have just checked, it is the simple solutions one.
