My dog was spayed earlier today.
I know it’s going to be a while for her to recover from the anaesthetic, but should I be concerned that she hasn’t drunk or had a wee since?
Ive taken her out a couple of times, but she just lies down, or turns and wants to go back in to her bed.

One of mine took hours to come round from being sedated once. She lay on my lap all evening and only moved when she weed on me. I was on the verge of taking her back to the vets when she suddenly woke up as bright as a button.
Hope you girl picks up soon.

I hope she's OK this morning.
My girl is booked in to be spayed in November and I am dreading it.

She’s very miserable and doesn’t want to leave her bed sadly. I’ve rung the vet for some reassurance, and been told it’s early days etc. She has eaten some breakfast which makes me feel a bit better.

Mine was spayed two weeks ago. It was a week before I saw her old self start to re-emerge.

She wasn't interested in food for the first 24-48 hours. And because she was nil by mouth from the night before it was a good 36 hours before she ate anything.

I read that it doesn't need to be much in terms of "a meal" for the painkiller, even a couple of mouthfuls of anything is enough to accompany what I had which was rheumocam.

I noticed she didn't wee much, either. I brought a little saucer of water to her in her bed and she took a little. I kept doing this. Perhaps she was thirsty but getting up to go to water was too labourious. I kept bringing it to her.

I didn't get much done for ten days. I just went with the flow and sat with her quietly. Reading, mostly.

She also had episodes where she would just tremble, mostly in the mornings. This has subsided now 2.5 weeks on.

Thank you for sharing your experience OnlyHerefortheBiscuits, really helpful. I’ve done the same as you with offering water. I ended up starting giving it by syringe in the end, as she was refusing. She has finally had a wee at 10pm.
