Dog walking (aka hiking) shoe

I’m looking for recommendations for the perfect pair of walking shoes or boots as I’ve worn my Murrel’s out and I'm no sure I want to buy the same again.

Has anyone got recommendations for the comfiest footwear, ideally water resistant?
Im all so interested in people’s experiences of ‘barefoot” boots such as Viviobarefoot or naturcontact.

Thank you

My experience of barefoot style shoes is that they don't stand up to much weather/mud/real wear.

My walking shoes are Keens Targhees, and my walking boots are Salomons but forget which model. I walk a dog in the woods in every weather and they're both very comfy and properly waterproof! The Salomons are lighter weight, despite being boots rather than shoes.

I have some

Altra Lone Peak All Weather 2 Mid Women's Walking Boots

for walks where it's going to be wet but not overly muddy or cold

Then some Keen Greta boots for when it's freezing or I'm likely to be bog trotting

Thank you everyone. I appreciate the suggestions.

I have Gore Tex trail running shoes for most dog walks but switch to wellies in the depths of winter.

The advantage of trail shoes is that they are much lighter and more comfortable and will survive all but the muddiest walks. They also have great grip.

I ha r had Salomon walking shoes in the past which were great, but I won’t go back to the heavier shoe.

And I really rate my Scarpa walking boots. They have lasted for years

I have Hotter Mist lined with Goretex. Too expensive to buy new from Hotter but can buy new or slightly used on eBay.

I've got a pair of Brashers.
Ankle boots, waterproof, very comfy and extremely hardwearing.

I second the recommendation for Brashers - designed for those of us with slightly wider feet and SO comfortable right from the start.

I was looking at walking shoes/trainers and the Go Outdoors assistant recommended choosing soles made from Vibram (I think) or Conti-something or other as they are the most hardwearing. Also the most expensive so they will have to be a birthday treat! I tried Hokka running trainers for dog walking in the summer but whilst very comfortable the soles can't cope with 40-50 miles a week.
