Running on from our last one…

I won’t tag people because I will forget someone and then feel awful 😂

Definitely agree that any dog conversation is always helpful. @VanGoSunflowers I often have a few days break from the internet, it’s good for my sanity! 😊

Houndymumma · 14/09/2025 18:46

Out of interest, what age did your pup’s teeth start coming out? I can’t remember from my old boy. Counting the days until teething is over. 🙄

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 14/09/2025 18:56

@Houndymumma 16 weeks on the dot for both of mine. It’s hard to tell which of his teeth are puppy ones and which are adult as he won’t really let me examine them but he still has his puppy fangs which look stupidly small now 🤣.

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 14/09/2025 18:58

@LandSharksAnonymous of course haha but he did just end up in the shower with me so he’s the opposite of normal 🤣 and now soaking wet!

LandSharksAnonymous · 14/09/2025 19:04

How many teeth is it now @VanGoSunflowers? Did you decide if you were going to keep any of them.

Ahhh, going to 'the other place' was your mistake! I only go there when I want to baffled by how the human race is still going...

Twatdog never lost his front puppy teeth. If you look at photos of him, he has puppy teeth at the very front. It's adorable 😍@Houndymumma but I think most of his adult teeth had come through by about 18 weeks.

@Idstillratherbepaddleboarding how did he get into the shower?! I can remember someone said once that one of their dogs had jumped on them in the bath 😁

Aubrielle · 14/09/2025 19:12

Thank you @Idstillratherbepaddleboarding . I'm missing the chat on the sister thread to this one, but technically Brie isn't a puppy now (17 months), so I feel like an imposter here 😟
One of our cats got in the shower with me a few times, but thankfully the Pyreneans never have!

Thanks @LandSharksAnonymous .
Still considering a chat thing, but always felt quite at home in the other thread so I dunno...😔

Thank you @VanGoSunflowers
So glad I wasn't over hyping the Calibra! The Millies packs are great too though.
Totally understand about needing a break and I really ought to do that myself.

@Houndymumma I think Brie was about 15 or 16 weeks when her baby teeth started coming out.

Houndymumma · 14/09/2025 19:19

We should be losing teeth very soon then, the chewing on toys seems a little more focused.

VanGoSunflowers · 14/09/2025 19:42

@Houndymumma its definitely good for your sanity to have a break! I think Pablo started losing his teeth at 4 months. He is 5 months now and has lost a fair few from what I can tell!

@LandSharksAnonymous all four canines(is that what they’re called? The sharp pointy ones? 😂) have gone now and I think most of the others have come through but like @Idstillratherbepaddleboarding its hard to tell. Even if I could get him to open his mouth I am not sure if I could tell the difference 😂

I need to ban myself from going over to the other place 😂 they’re so horrible to each other over there 😳

@Aubrielle i certainly don’t see you as an imposter. I was secretly really pleased when you (and others from the adolescent thread) started posting on this one! Firstly because I like you all and secondly because you’re so helpful and I know I can trust your advice! Honestly, out of all the support mechanisms I have had… this one has made the biggest difference to me ❤️

I’m going to be spending the evening finding a new coat for rainy dog walks! Can’t believe how cold it’s suddenly got. If I can find a good one I might actually be warm standing on the side of a football pitch too…

Houndymumma · 14/09/2025 20:00

Yes the rain and sudden winter weather is not helping my potty training. I have a fair weather pup!! However I remember last time I was potty training with my old boy in 2010, that heavy snow arrived and he just disappeared into it. So could be worse I suppose.

Didriksons! I'm an evangelist 😄

Can be expensive but you can often get last season's stuff on sale at places like New Forest or Holland's Country Clothing

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 14/09/2025 22:00

@LandSharksAnonymous I always leave the shower door slightly ajar so he can see me becuase I’m soft and it’s a long cubicle so the water doesn’t get out 😂. I did the same for Billy but he never ventured in!

@Flowerfusion I’m going full DryRobe wanker this winter and I don’t care!

Aubrielle · 14/09/2025 22:20

Seasalt Plant Hunter coat is my favourite. I have a woodland green and a funky black one with leaves and flowers on. Had that one on just now to stand in the garden waiting for pup to do her bedtime wee.

VanGoSunflowers · 15/09/2025 07:15

@Bupster I have a Didriksons coat too, I love it but I should have sized up when I bought it as I can’t layer too much under it without feeling really restricted
I think I’m going to do the same @Idstillratherbepaddleboarding and go dry robe wanker 😂 well, my friend has a similar coat by Passenger and I tried it on on evening and I was sold.

LandSharksAnonymous · 15/09/2025 08:45

@VanGoSunflowers oh I bet he looks adorable with the little gaps where his teeth are about to grow through!

@Bupster you have never not suggested Didriksons. I'm sure you lurks about on threads waiting to suggest them 😄 That being said, they are v. good.

@Idstillratherbepaddleboarding nothing wrong with being soft! Twatdog was well over 2 before he stopped laying in the bathroom when I showered. Now he just curls up on my bed and stares at me from a distance instead.

50mph winds here today made for a very quiet dog walk - just me and the rabble + Satan. I'm WFH (living my best slacker life on mumsnet and Christmas shopping whilst I want for my laptop to update - I promise, I do actually work sometimes...) and there's nothing more lovely than watching all the tree branches being flung about, the sound of wind down the chimney and watching the dogs dry off in the kitchen whilst I sit on my sofa with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake (chocolate, pecan and almond)

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 15/09/2025 08:56

@LandSharksAnonymous lucky you, I have to head out to the office today and I really don’t want to 😭. DH is home with Rory today who is not a fan of this weather!

VanGoSunflowers · 15/09/2025 10:03

@LandSharksAnonymous I now have an intense craving for coffee and cake!
It’s very windy here too! Sat on the sofa with my laptop and a curled up sleeping puppy .

Same here. Pouring rain, blowing a gale, we have a snoozing pup and mug of coffee.
We're West Pennine Moors, up a hill and we've been having power dips all morning. I've just filled two flasks with boiling water so if the electric goes off, we can at least have drink.

LandSharksAnonymous · 15/09/2025 10:46

@VanGoSunflowers included a photo for you! Although this was admittedly last weeks which was Hazelnut, chocolate and amaretto!
As you can tell, I only take tiny, dainty, slices 😂That’s so I can have two and kid myself it’s only one slice worth of calories

TBH if you’re not having cake after dog walking, and for breakfast, you’re not doing it properly.

Hope you don’t lose signal completely @Aubrielle! I bet Brie loves the weather though…

Puppy survival thread! All welcome!
Aubrielle · 15/09/2025 11:06

That is so mean @LandSharksAnonymous I'm drooling 😋It does look really good. Home baked I presume?

Yes, my little weirdo seems to love being out in a howling gale, she stands there with her nose in the air, looking romantically windswept. She'll happily stay outside in rain or hail provided it doesn't involve stepping on wet grass 🙄

Flowerfusion · 15/09/2025 11:40

@Bupster - which coat in particular do you recommend? I love the fully fleece one which is not going to help in the rain but I do like it!!

@Idstillratherbepaddleboarding @VanGoSunflowers I'm also SO tempted to go dry robe...

@Aubrielle oh i do like seasalt! Thank you for that - wouldn't have thought of looking there.

Maybe i will need a few coats ready for the season!

The wind today is awful - and really affected our walk. She looked very anxious so we just did a very short one..

VanGoSunflowers · 15/09/2025 11:45

@Aubrielle hoping the power stays on for you 🤞
Brie is such a character 😂 Pablo has equally strange views on water and wet stuff. When I take him a walk over the fields and do some training with him, he really does not like sitting on wet grass. But if a pool of water has collected in the garden he will have a good splash and dog around in it. Also, sometimes when he is thirsty he will only drink out of his water bowl if it’s literally just been refreshed for him but will also try and drink from puddles. Strange boy!

@LandSharksAnonymous that looks absolutely phenomenal! Coffee and cake is such a perfect pairing. I want cake now but I can’t bake for toffee. I might have to pop down to the shop 😂
I have some new freshly roasted coffee beans arriving today and I am so excited 😂

I have a fair weather mostly sofa surfing breed! Talking of coats I need to get pup an Equafleece as the two I have from my previous hounds are absolutely huge. Problem is she’s growing daily so what size?🤔 But she was shivering yesterday when we were out, as I said, she’s keener on the sofa when the weather is bad. That cake looks amazing @LandSharksAnonymous

Windy here too and rain just moving in, I’m down south in Hampshire. Hope you all keep power 🤞

Aubrielle · 15/09/2025 13:44

Timely talk of coats. My bargain of the year just this moment arrived. Seasalt Plant Hunter coat, Turf Green. Tag says £160, I paid £32 including delivery from the Seasalt Ebay Outlet. It felt too good to be true when I ordered it, so I was surprised it actually came.
They sometimes have the Janelle coats in the outlet too so it is worth keeping your eye on it @Flowerfusion .

The one I bought last year was good value at £60, but I'm definitely doing a happy dance today and coat will get its first outing later.
I know it's not really in the same league as Didrikson's or DryRobe for label appeal or street cred, but it'll do me just fine 😊

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 15/09/2025 14:03

@LandSharksAnonymous OMG that looks like good cake!!

@Aubrielle I’m not sure dryrobes are good for street cred, they have their own FB page called Dry Robe wankers 😂😂.
