Dog acting odd

Dog aged 4 has started laying under tables/small spaces a lot more recently. I work from home and she has always liked to sleep under my desk for most of the day. However, this has moved on to now being under my chair at the dinner table, under the coffee table beside me etc. She has had a vet check including her teeth and has no obvious signs of illness/injury. She hasn’t been sick or eaten anything she shouldn’t. She is going for walks as normal. But she just seems weird, clingy to me almost wanting to be as close to me as possible? I’m starting to think maybe it’s me and I’m ill and she can sense it?!

Any suggestions of something obvious I’m missing that could be wrong?

Velcro dog? Some breeds are more clingy than others. I have 2 spaniels but one in particular likes to be as near to me as possible.
You were wise to check with the vet if it is quite new behaviour for her. I doubt her just wanting to be near you means that you have a problem but they can be very in tune with emotions.

Is she spayed? My girl's get incredibly clingy when they're due in season.

It could be a variety of things - change in her routine, new people in her life, people being home (or out) more often. All of those can make a dog a bit clingier than normal.

I'd be more inclined to think it's something has changed her rather than you're sick! Although if you are upset for any reason, some dog breeds do seem to be particularly sharp in picking up on it.

She is spayed. Shes 4.5 and she wasn’t previously this Velcro - I can leave her for 5 hours no issue as have a camera on her. Nothing has changed at home. It’s just odd. I am not upset or doing anything different either. DH and the kids have commented on it last 2 days so it’s definitely become more noticeable to others and not just me noticing it!

Our dog started doing this. It’s because she’s amazing at sensing where the cooler parts of the house are. So in the summer she will
spend more time under beds and things because it’s cooler. Or in the winter it’s a specific door threshold because the hot water pipe runs underneath and it’s a warmer place to be.

Interesting @CrushingOnRubiesI don’t think it’s weather/temperature related but I’ll see if it changes again over next couple of days. I think if the odd behaviour continues we will have to go back to the vets incase she is ill/in pain internally.

Are you sure you’re not pregnant or unwell? Dogs are so, so good at sensing things - our beagle “knew” my DH had diabetes before we did - his behaviour towards him changed massively during diagnosis. It was almost eerie.

I am definitely not pregnant or I’d think the same. I could be ill and not it know it though!! Will keep monitoring her and see if it continues or changes.

How old was she when she started doing it?
