Itchy dog…

My terrier cross dog is very itchy, he’s up to date with his flea treatment (3 monthly bravecto tablet) and we know he has a chicken allergy so are very careful with his diet (combination of wainwrights superfoods tins with the freeze dry raw, this suits his stomach really well.)

Im assuming this is another allergy that we haven’t worked out yet, has anyone found any supplements or anything to help with this?

Picture for tax.

Sorry about your little chap's itching problem.

Could it be some sort of plant allergy? Years ago, one of our girls suddenly developed itching on her legs and belly. Our vet concluded that it was grass allergy, he put her on anti-histamines and told us to keep her out of the long grass.
Your boy is only little so a plant allergy could potentially affect his whole body.

I may be barking up the wrong tree (!), but I hope you're able to figure out what the issue is.

He's very cute btw.

My dog is atopic - she has dry skin and gets very itchy. We keep her grain free and chicken free, and we also give her Coatex supplements. They aren't cheap so you could look around for some pet safe fish oils instead if you want to. We also brush her 3-4 times a week as we find it helps stimulate the oils in her skin/coat (Cocker spaniel).

Lastly, we had to put her on apoquel. She gets itchy ears and we just couldn't bear to see her scratching them so much. I'd try the other things first though (if you haven't already).

Thank you both, very helpful! It could be a grass allergy which is a problem as we live in the countryside 🤦‍♀️ he does get sore feet from time to time as well.

We do give his salmon oil occasionally, would this help?

I will take him to the vet if it doesn’t improve for antihistamines.

We give our little guy half a Loratadine antihistamine tablet in hay fever season. Also a regular cod liver oil capsule (specifically dog friendly ones, from Amazon, as human cod liver oil is bad for them) He also has itchy skin, brushing with a soft bristle brush is best.
Your dog is super cute.😍

Itchy feet was a problem with our girl also, she was licking at her pads a lot, so that does indicate to me it's potentially grass with this little guy.

Anti-histamines may be the answer (ours had Piriton) but probably safer to get them from the vet initially, because the dosage needs to be miniscule for a dog of this size.

Yes, salmon oil is good but you're already giving some raw food so his diet sounds pretty perfect!
