Would you leave a 9 month old puppy for 3 weeks?

I think I know the answer to this!
but it’s been a while since I had a puppy.
ive seen a good litter, pups are currently 8 weeks.
problem is, we’re going away on holidays for three weeks next February, so the pup would be nine months.
we have a pet sitter lined up for our cats, friends daughter who is really lovely and very responsible (early 20’s).
how will the pup be at 9 months? Too annoying/anxious/unsettled to leave?

Thanks @Lamaitresse , yes I guess a good routine will be doubly important

Would the dog be left overnight without anyone? I only ask as my neighbour does this and their dog howls and barks all night long, every night.

Sometimes their kids (20+), return home around 3am, it recognises the car engine noise and is quiet before they get out the car.

yes it’s annoying but also stressful for the pet.

A 9month old small breed will be much more mature than a large breed dog. I would expect by 9months for a pup to be at least 99% house trained and in a good routine. I think it’s fine. I think it would be a different conversation if it was in the first 4-6months. Plus you’re paying someone to sit him/her so I think the additional puppy work is fine to expect, we always use our parents are dog sitters so have always had to think about how much work it is for them. We’ve looked after their pup at that age though.

@Noodles1234 no, the sitter will live in our house including overnight

@Jumpers4goalposts how was it looking after your parents pup?

It was fine. He’s a standard long haired dachshund, I bred him so we already have his mum and a Labrador. He did a couple of wees in the first couple of days just because he was distracted. Other than that he was pretty chilled slept through the night and enjoyed the attention. He was pleased to see them when they came home.
