Dog food giving diarrhoea

2 year old cockapoo. Eating Lily’s kitchen but gives her diarrhoea. Tried Pure Pet Food but she doesn’t like it. Butternut Box too expensive. Any suggestions ? Can’t afford anything too expensive.

Our dog alternates between Markus Muhle Black Angus, and Purizon 80/20 Fish - whichever is on the best offer at Zooplus when I need to buy a sack. Her poo is always perfect except that time she ate half a dead seagull before I could stop her

Do you mean the poo is soft, or is she actually having the full on squirty runs, if you'll excuse the phrase? If the former, it might just be that she's eating too much. If the latter, it's probably not the brand that's the issue; she's intolerant to something in the ingredients. Most likely culprits are chicken and beef; but my pup's mildly allergic to dairy. Lots of people think grain can be an issue too.

It’s not watery but it is mush if that makes sense.

Lily's kitchen is awful stuff. It's really hard to find good dog food that's not full of fillers and rubbish. I home cook now but it's not the cheapest option. I find the cheapest frozen fish (Iceland, Aldi etc). Then I batch cook peas, carrots, sweet potato, sprouts, cabbage and broccoli and mix together. Mine also has an egg every day and a grated apple. You can bulk it out with quinoa or brown rice to bring the cost down too. Chicken thighs are also cheap. Then look out for Forthglade on offer and stock up. It all adds up but it's cheaper than the vet!

I have two labs, both on grain free dry food. Used to be Vitalin but now Jollies pet shop own brand grain free. Neither have ever had runny poos from their diet except when they have eaten something they shouldn’t. I do give them dog treats, carrots, leftover meat and veg from roasts and I often share my fruit with them. Poos are firm to solid

Raw.
had similar issues, switched to raw and not looked back
the website Raw Feeding For Dogs Made Simple (RFFDMS) is a brilliant resource

The only foods my sensitive hound is alright on are Forthglade, Barking Heads and Skinners Duck and Rice.

My Lab turned out to be sensitive to chicken. He's on Skinners salmon and rice now. He was on one made for our local farm shop but they've gone out of business. Had mushy poo yesterday but that was because he had hoovered up windfall plums...
