Hi everyone,

We will be collecting our dream little female Goldendoodle here in 4 weeks time.

What is her name?

At the moment we have:

Inca
Zola
Rhubarb
Alba
Zelda
Giselle

Any suggestions?

🤷🏻‍♀️ how’s it any different to shouting for Willow, Daisy or Pepper?

🤷‍♀️ just sounds funny. It’d probably be shortened to Rhubs though. But that sounds like rudes, which is weird

Gattopardo · 20/06/2025 23:31

If you’ve got a daughter who is Allegra, I’d go for Zelda or Zola otherwise it could sound like you’re summoning the Mallory Towers boarding cohort across the playing field (Inca! Giselle! Allegra - time for supper!)

I hope you don’t think that’s rude.

I do like Rhubarb also, but it immediately made me think of other similar names like Lettice, and that’s all just a bit too Boris Johnson for my liking ;)

Gattopardo · 20/06/2025 23:32

Also she is very lovely and I’m sure you’ll have loads of fun with her.

verityveritas · 20/06/2025 23:35

Rhubarb could be shortened to Rue (some types of Rue have a pretty deep yellow flower).

ASheepNamedBagel · 20/06/2025 23:35

@Gattopardono, no. Totally understand, I’d likely sound like a knob

I’d need some cats called Cressida and Araminta (Minty, obvs)

Given her colour I think Custard would be better than Rhubarb.

Gattopardo · 20/06/2025 23:50

They’re your next pets, @ASheepNamedBagel.

You can yell them all in from your back door whilst wafting the Spectator or the Telegraph against the flies ;)

Good luck with your doggy. You’re going to have loads of fun, and probably a few savaged shoes/arms/legs/pairs of pants …

Oddly, I suggested Araminta (Minty) on a different 'name my pup' thread yesterday, along with Angelica (Jelly) but I think they were looking for a "quirky", witty word rather than an actual human name.

Zena

chattyness · 21/06/2025 00:02

How about Nugget, as she's golden

I like human names for animals.

Zoë
Penny
Bonnie
Molly
Charis

Yes looks like a penny or Bonnie to me ☺️

BlueEyedBogWitch · 20/06/2025 23:08

She looks like a Honey to me.

That’s what I thought. She will be golden. Maybe manuka honey.

SociableAtWork · 21/06/2025 00:22

Doris

Or Rhubarb. Great nicknames - Rubes, Ruby, Ru-dog, Rooster - and the Kaiser Chiefs ‘Ruby’ was about a dog.

DeSoleil · 21/06/2025 01:30

Piper.
Pepper.
Pippa.
Pippin.

3girlsmama · 21/06/2025 01:39

Rosa
Callie
Gia
Iris

CherryRipe1 · 21/06/2025 02:29

Minka. She is beautiful.

stayathomer · 21/06/2025 03:12

Inca was my first thought but DH is adamant it reminds him of ink - and thinks it’s best suited to a dark coloured doggy.

utterly exhausted today and can’t sleep and laughing because I read the first part of this sentence and thought ‘what?!’ and then thought ‘ohhh!!!!’ when I read the second part😅😅😅 She’s gorgeous, congratulations on the new addition!

MuffinsAreJustCakesAtBreakfast · 21/06/2025 06:16

I think Emma is a really beautiful classy name for a dog.

ditto Lucy

Wigtopia · 21/06/2025 06:20

Penny or Daisy

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 21/06/2025 06:24

It's obviously got to be Rhubarb - but I hope your neighbour has a pink cat called Custard.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 21/06/2025 06:35

Just in case people didn't recognise the reference 😁
