Dog following me around and acting strange after house move 2 months ago

We moved house 2 months ago to another place entirely - new area, moved from a flat with a small garden, to a house with a big garden and lots of wildlife, etc.

My 6-year-old lab is acting very strange. Wont leave me alone! Follows me everywhere. Is also a little nervy. It’s out of character completely, but obviously I know moving is a big deal.

Is this normal? What can I do to help her?

It's completely normal. It took mine about 6 months to settle after we last moved (and we still did all the same walks and lived in the same village - we literally moved 10 minutes down the road...). So, if it's a bigger move she'll be unsettled for a while.

Best thing to do is carry on as normal 🙂She'll settle down eventually.

I'd also recommended unpacking everything quickly (i.e. not making it look like you might upend her against at any moment). I found mine relaxed a lot sooner once the boxes were all gone!

Thank you! We’ve already unpacked and settled in. She was really shaky today when someone came to fix the washing machine. He was very friendly and usually she loves people!

Gosh six months! I will try and make everything feel really nice for her. Poor dogs, they don’t understand or get a say in their lives changing!

Have you had her checked by a vet as a change in personality can be a sign of pain?
If she's definitely unsettled because of the move, would you consider giving her something to help? Things like Placid, YuCalm, Chamomile, Rescue Remedy for example.

I’ll book her an appointment just in case. I wouldn’t be adverse to giving her something at all, thank you for these suggestions, she’s really not acting herself.

I agree a vet check would be my first port of call. It is easy to assume that it the move that has unsettled her but her behaviour could also be due to il health or pain.

Best to rulle out the physical issues. Do ask for full blood test, urine sample not just a hands on by the vet.

Hope she is feeling back to normal soon.

My girl did this when we went camping. If she wasn't under my feet and glued to my side, she was sat in the car boot. She stopped when we got back! We happened to be going to the vet for her vaccs shortly after and I mentioned it. He said it was the change of 'home' that she didn't like. I hope it is that for your doggie too and she gets used to your new home soon. She's glued to you because you're her constant familiar thing that's not changed.
