Will claiming £400 affect my insurance premium (with insurance emporium)

My 18 month old saluki / greyhound was bitten in by another dog. The other owner paid just over half the vet costs leaving us with £400. My insurance is £12 a month. I can't figure out if I should claim or not. I know this is what insurance is for, but I'm also concerned about a massive jump in the premium. Will it go up anyway just because an incident occurred? (As you might be able to tell I have little experience with pet insurance).
Dog is now fine, it doesn't seem to have affected his behaviour at all.

Pretty much anything affects insurance premiums IMO. I had to pay out a few months ago (only £200) and my premium shot up afterwards. £12 a month is really not much either, so I doubt you'll see a massive hike? I had four claims last year on one of mine and it only went up £20.

I'm pretty surprised the owner of the other dog didn't pay out completely? This is 100% on them!? If my dog bit another dog, I'd pay everything

Why did the only owner only pay half the bill? I would be taking them to court for the full amount unless there's a backstory about your dog getting on their property or something?

In terms of insurance, it will go up next year regardless of whether you claim or not, as risks increase with age unfortunately.

Thanks for replying. They were both off lead, it was a case of being realistic about the outcome. I'll put the claim in and see what happens next year with the premiums.
