Do you pick up other dog's poo?

We regularly walk our dog on the recreation ground in our village. It has several dog poo bins dotted around at various points. However lots of people still don't pick up after their dog and if I come across mess left by another owner I do pick it up and dispose of it so that other people, especially children, don't step in it. We also pick up any we come across on pavements.

Today we went for a country walk and on several of the footpaths there was dog mess. I picked it up but DH said we should just leave it as it was different from being in the playing field or pavement where it was a hazard. Plus he said it was gross having to walk for several miles carrying another dogs mess . He said he thought 99% of owners would leave it.

Do other dog owners always pick up poo that has been left? Or is DH right and I should just leave it unless it's on a pavement or playing field?

Yes, if they are on paths or grass I pick them up. No worries about carrying it around as I have a Dicky bag for when I'm away from bins. If I was in the woods and there was poo on the path I would 'stick and flick' it into brambles probably but depends on the undergrowth

I do it if it's in a place where it would be a nightmare if someone else steps in it eg I cleaned up 4 bags worth at the rugby club the other weekend, most of it was right on the try line. Totally disgusting. I'm glad to be able to bring my dog to watch my daughter play rugby so I feel like I need to counteract whatever absolutely minger is spoiling it for everyone else

I walk round a local rugby field each morning and on a Sunday the younger kids come to train. When the adults were setting up, they asked for poo bags and instead of just handing them over, us dog walkers picked it all up (none of it ours as our group do pick up).
It was extremely unpleasant, you get used to your own dogs poo I guess. That left by other unknown dogs nearly knocked me sick.
I wouldn't do it again.

If it’s anywhere children can get near then yes absolutely or on a footpath ect not in fields / woods

I have a fairly strong stomach (cleaning up after ducks as a teenager probably helped there) so I pick up other dogs' poo quite often. On or near paths, on the pitches, in the car park, sometimes in the middle of a field. If it's on a path in the woods or alongside a verge I'll kick or flick it into cover.

There used to be a bloke near me who was a truly responsible dog owner. His dog had the squits once near the local bus stop, and he went home and came back with a bucket of hot soapy water and a yard broom and cleaned it away.

I don’t do it every time I see one but do sometimes. I actually did this yesterday as there was a massive one in the off lead area where my dog and her dog friends were playing. I could foresee one of them treading in it. 🤢

weirdly I find it more gross picking up another dog’s poop than my own - not sure why?!!

I always pick up other dogs poo. I tend to flick it if in the middle of the woods but at the carpark it is always full of dog poo and I will pick up extra everytime I go.

I have a dickie bag like CMOTdibbler so pop it in there and throw it away when I get home.

The irony is that my dogs are trained to poo at home so only very occassionally do I have to pick up their poo.
