I have just realised that we are spending £2375 per year on flea treatment (Nexgard) for our three dogs. My vets £25.50 prescription charge makes ordering online no cheaper unfortunately. Can anyone recommend an over the counter flea / tic treatment and a worm treatment that includes lungworm please; I will ask my vet about Bravecto as it lasts 12 weeks instead of 4 and makes it much more cost effective; just to add one of my dogs has a bad reaction with the drops so the chews would go down better, currently looking at Nutripaws. We can't resist a rescue hence the three.
Many thanks 💜

People who have never flea treated have never dealt with an infestation or a poorly animal due to an infected tick bite.

Seresto collars are £35 each, last 7 - 8 months and are highly effective and as safe as anything else. Not a good option if you have a swimmer though.

Worming you can do every 3 - 6 months. That's actually what my vet recommends.

I know people who have spent a fortune on flea treatments and who have still ended up with infestations. We check for ticks daily "in season" and just remove them if needed. Had one nasty bite that easily cleared up with some hibiscrub.

I've saved probably thousands over the years.

The option is not flea treatment or infestation.

Regular grooming will stop an infestation as if your dog has a flea egg or flea dirt you treat immediately. If they have no fleas dont treat.

Washing bedding regularly and hoovering up regularly.

Yes, exactly. If you're checking your dogs daily you should never get to the point of an infestation, they don't happen overnight.

Wormers definitely only clear out what is there- they aren’t prophylactic.
We live in a lung worm area, unfortunately, tons of slugs and snails.
Vets rotate wormers every few months.
