What a spectacularly crappy day.
Work was mental and as I was running out the door to get to my MOT and walk Pod while they worked on the car, I found a sweet little English Bull Terrier shuffling about outside my back gate. She was just mooching around and had no collar on. So I got Pods spare collar a lead and carefully popped them on her so she couldn't run off and after a bit of dithering put her in the car (she shuffled in voluntarily, I didn't attempt to pick her up) and drove around for a bit looking for anyone running around the streets screaming like I would have been - didn't see anyone so rang my vets (handily opposite the MOT garage) and they said they'd scan her and try to find her Mammy. Seconds from the MOT place the arsey engineer rang and said I was too late for MOT now and will have to rebook (£75) for next week, after MOT expires 😫
Time pressure now relieved, took the Little Old Lady into the Vets for scanning, and thankfully she was chipped so they left her Mum a message. Said goodbye to LOL, who was snoring peacefully by this point, and went back to the car, where Pod had understandably eaten through his seatbelt (£13). Was about to set off when received a text from kennels saying that regrettably they can't accept his at home test results as proof of a negative so he can't come in tomorrow for daycare (£23). Went BACK into vets to ask what we do now (their test still haven't come back!) and they said the only thing to do is collect three more days samples (£98) then wait another ten days ("or even longer") for THOSE results to come back, meaning Pod can't go into kennels next week either for MILs 80th which I really, really need to be at.
I was so annoyed by this point I burst into tears (in the car, thankfully). Decided to bring Pod to where I was planning to take him during MOT anyway (a place his Girlfriend from Training's Dad told us about). Anyway, who should be coming out just as we were going in, but Girlfriend from Training! They were SO delighted to see one another and the owners even changed their plans so the dogs could play for a bit. The place is BRILLIANT -it's a set of fields all connected and fenced off and people just take their dogs there to all play together! Pod made so many friends and ran for miles.
So all's sort of well that ends well except I'm broke and livid. DP and MIL thoroughly pushing the "just bring him along" next week, which is frankly the worst idea I've ever heard but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
So today has cost me nearly £200 in dog related NONSENSE but at least Pod is happy, and he's priceless.
