Hello my fabulous Podsquad, here is Podcast Thread III.

For anyone that is new to this thread, it's about my rescue dog, known as Pod.

Here is thread No. 2 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5197068-the-pod-cast?page=39&reply=141216881

And thread No 1 https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_doghouse/5177112-oh-my-giddy-god?page=1

for if anyone would like to go back and see how astonishingly naïve and traumatised I was by taking on a fully grown, teenaged pointy dog who seemed determined to destroy me and everything I love.

Theatrics over, here is the Pod in question (obviously I've edited the lead out - I'm not mental).

If anyone doesn't have is Insta handle and wants it, just DM me. A video of me and Pod doing yoga together will appear at some point soon.

I get complimented on how well my dog looks so I'm assuming her food is okay. I was told only today she doesn't look her age. I'm just being daft as I'd love to give her some wet food and I'm sure she'd enjoy it very much.

I can't believe Pod didn't get a rosette, we actually make rosettes and would love to make him a very special one to start his collection

Aww that's sweet. I got him a snakey tuggy from the supermarket to cheer him up and he's now very happ.

What a spectacularly crappy day.

Work was mental and as I was running out the door to get to my MOT and walk Pod while they worked on the car, I found a sweet little English Bull Terrier shuffling about outside my back gate. She was just mooching around and had no collar on. So I got Pods spare collar a lead and carefully popped them on her so she couldn't run off and after a bit of dithering put her in the car (she shuffled in voluntarily, I didn't attempt to pick her up) and drove around for a bit looking for anyone running around the streets screaming like I would have been - didn't see anyone so rang my vets (handily opposite the MOT garage) and they said they'd scan her and try to find her Mammy. Seconds from the MOT place the arsey engineer rang and said I was too late for MOT now and will have to rebook (£75) for next week, after MOT expires 😫

Time pressure now relieved, took the Little Old Lady into the Vets for scanning, and thankfully she was chipped so they left her Mum a message. Said goodbye to LOL, who was snoring peacefully by this point, and went back to the car, where Pod had understandably eaten through his seatbelt (£13). Was about to set off when received a text from kennels saying that regrettably they can't accept his at home test results as proof of a negative so he can't come in tomorrow for daycare (£23). Went BACK into vets to ask what we do now (their test still haven't come back!) and they said the only thing to do is collect three more days samples (£98) then wait another ten days ("or even longer") for THOSE results to come back, meaning Pod can't go into kennels next week either for MILs 80th which I really, really need to be at.

I was so annoyed by this point I burst into tears (in the car, thankfully). Decided to bring Pod to where I was planning to take him during MOT anyway (a place his Girlfriend from Training's Dad told us about). Anyway, who should be coming out just as we were going in, but Girlfriend from Training! They were SO delighted to see one another and the owners even changed their plans so the dogs could play for a bit. The place is BRILLIANT -it's a set of fields all connected and fenced off and people just take their dogs there to all play together! Pod made so many friends and ran for miles.

So all's sort of well that ends well except I'm broke and livid. DP and MIL thoroughly pushing the "just bring him along" next week, which is frankly the worst idea I've ever heard but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

So today has cost me nearly £200 in dog related NONSENSE but at least Pod is happy, and he's priceless.

Blimey, Hanging, you've really had a time of it today 🙁

And after the day from hell, you can still smile because you have your Pod 😍
A dog can put a smile on your face on even the shitiest of days, can't they!

Hopefully LOL is home with her family.

2025willbemytime · 27/03/2025 18:16

I'd be using a different garage for the MOT as they are clearly arseholes. You were rescuing a lost dog FFS!

MaxandMoritz · 27/03/2025 18:21

I felt tired just reading all that. What a carry on!

WiddlinDiddlin · 27/03/2025 18:25

Oh blimey - thats a day and a half (cheap for a seatbelt, the Ancient Relic trashed a seatbelt out of a mates Subaru... £60 out of his pocket money that was. Twatdog. He wasn't upset either, he was having FUN, determined to kill the seatbelt!

HangingOver · 27/03/2025 18:34

Pod has persuaded me to down my sorrows in a McPlant and fries.

Oh phew! Silly Pod, still, of all the things he COULD have done... I think thats pretty mild stuff, Good Pod, broadly speaking! :D

Scampuss · 27/03/2025 19:57

Oh what a day Brew Wine Cake

eggandonion · 27/03/2025 21:40

I'm looking forward to hearing what he gets up to at the birthday party for his granny!

spiderlight · 27/03/2025 22:46

What a day!! Thank goodness you were there to keep the little old lady safe though. Your garage sound like arseholes. We have a lovely mechanic who once came out at 7am in the pissing rain to fix our car in time for a vet's appointment and gained our eternal loyalty.

Our old boy once gatecrashed a complete stranger's 90th birthday party and I ended up on my hands and knees under a table trying to extract him during the speeches, so I am very much looking forward to the tale of Pod and your MIL if he does have to go with you.

eggandonion · 27/03/2025 23:20

He has to be there in a bow tie.

LadyGrillingSole · 28/03/2025 06:44

You know, thinking about it, MIL's 80th might not be as stressful with Pod as it sounds as dp being with you means a 2 people to 1 Pod ratio!

Plus he'll obviously be the centre of attention - he'll probably have a ball 😃

HangingOver · 28/03/2025 22:06

For once I got a day away from Pod! I went into the city to try on wedding gowns and it was probably the most fun I've ever had.

OP posts:
MaxandMoritz · 28/03/2025 22:36

Fun?! Without Pod?!! Don’t be daft!

Did you find something gorgeous?

Pashazade · 29/03/2025 07:28

Oh I loved the excuse to try on wedding dresses it is so much fun. Apart from the one place that had normal sized changing rooms, weddings dresses rarely fit in a normal cubicle. It was a really posh shop too! Glad you had fun and hope Pod is still on the mend.

HangingOver · 29/03/2025 11:17

I shortlisted seven gowns. Every single person likes them all but has a favourite and they're all different. So I have no idea which one to buy!

Me and Pod are working on some conditioning today. I've decided not being able to sweep a broom in my own house is ridiculous so today I waiting til he was buy with something in the kitchen/garden and started sweeping. As soon as he ran in and barked, I laid the broom down and waited. Eventually he got bored and wandered off. Repeated several times and he eventually let me get on with a bit of sweeping while he had his breaky. Result!!

PS funny other cleaning related video up on the Gram

Well done!

Looking forward to hearing more about the wedding dresses. Hard but lovely choice to have to make.

Oh please absolutely do! The pod squad is always ready and willing to help!

SilverBlue56 · 29/03/2025 12:03

I am having a terrible week and I would really feel better if we could vote on the dresses, no pressure 😄

FeralWoman · 29/03/2025 13:05

Yes please to wedding dresses! You might find if you go and try them on a second time that you’ll be able to eliminate some. Consider things like the style of accessories for the dress eg shoes, veil, headpiece, jewellery, flowers, etc and you might have a better idea of what dresses you prefer.

Personally one of the biggest considerations for my wedding dress was being able to use the toilet on my own and to not need a bridesmaid or relative to help hold the dress up. Achieved that. I wanted a white dress but the ones I tried on made me look terrible so I ended up with a blush/champagne coloured dress. I was a young bride. Too young. Only 20 years old and still at uni. Still married to the same man nearly 25 years later. Guess it wasn’t too young but it was.

Have you set a wedding date yet? When are you announcing your engagement to family and friends.

WiddlinDiddlin · 29/03/2025 13:47

Oh yes, dresses dresses dresses!

Despite dressing like a bag lady myself, I quite like dress shopping for other people (ideally in a virtual cyber sense so i can stay home with a brew!).
