Large dog harness. Extra strong

Hi all. I'm looking for a strong dog harness for a large dog. My dog managed to get hers off today and I reckon the clips weren't strong enough. Only had it a month. Luckily we where walking in our own fields and hadn't ventured out yet as she gets a bit excited. She's still a puppy but a large one.

I know it's not a harness but I can fully sing the praises of the dogmatic head collar. Our large rescue dog would nearly pull your arm off before we got that.

@Wavescrashingonthebeach ooo thank you I shall take a look

Ah looks good but not ideal. I need the harness as she's a livestock guardian in training. We have deliveries and are rural so when I know they are coming I tether her to make it easier for the drivers, other wise she will jump on them. We are still in early days of training so will take a while.

It was honestly amazing. We've used it with different breeds of HUGE strong dogs and they walked beautifully with it and they loved it.

Sorry cross post! Ah nevermind x

I might get one for socialising walks though!

We always get Perfect Fit harnesses - you measure your dog and get the right size 'bits' to fit longer/shorter back, deeper chests, etc. They don't restrict movement, and they're easy to get on and off. The buckles on our big dog's harness look strong enough for a parachute jump.

Interesting as mine is a Livestock Guarding Dog also - a 9 month old Pyrenean.

You don't say what harness you've tried but I'm using Ezydog Quick fit or Express harnesses in conjunction with an Ezydog Double-up collar and a double ended lead. It's sort of belt and braces using both because she has no recall and I'm terrified of her worming her way out.

Perfect Fit.

My 30kg mutt can't break hers or escape it. She's a powerful beast and reactive, so it's been very well tested over the years....

Kitchenspade · 05/01/2025 13:46

@CoubousAndTourmalet it was an Eagloo one. I was quite surprised as its quite strong.

Perfect fit it is then! Thank you all

Perfect Fit aren't great for the larger dogs as the strap can come close to the front legs.

Dog Copenhagen
Ruffwear flagline harness are very hard to escape from

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/01/2025 14:07

I swear by Ruffwear Webmaster. I have had a Canine Houdini or two, lol, and these have never let me down. Well worth the money.

JaimeLannister · 05/01/2025 16:53

I've used both Copenhagen and Perfect fit for my 43kg dog. Liked both but Pefect fit is a much better fit around his chest. I've had the Perfect fit harness for a couple of years now, used daily and no sign of wear or tear at all.

Thanks everyone
